the EP is real ?
Just material. Not actual engines.
But PW220 is definitely not where they’re at.
very real and very much in service
Yeah, just Passive radar homing
PW100 then?
This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.
it says 4000 cycles for hot sections and 8000 for cold on the PW-220
how many hours is a cycle? 1, 5, 50?
i have no idea, thats just what it says
np, thx nontheless
maybe with this you can convert cycles to flight hours through years, scrolled a little farther through the report
damm where did u find these pics ? so far i have only seen the pic with the su34 but some people were saying it was for display.
A Ukrainian pilot posted that picture on his Instagram
To me the missile on the outer wing pylon seems more interesting tho
r73 with r60 seeker?
What? turbo prop?
Given they copied CFM56 for a start 20 odd years ago, it wouldn’t be a good assumption that they went backwards.
IDK tbh where they are RN but rumours of original WS15 which was scrubbed was something along the lines of slightly better than F110-132 but it was abandoned since even WS 10 based off CFM56 got close to that figure, meaning it was literally not worth it.
Service life wise IDK but material is partially there at least from scientific perspective.
the F100-PW-100, not a turbo prop
like i said earlier being able to put out a ton of thrust basically means it has good fuel injectors without other statistics
i don’t think a cycle = 1 hour, that’d be a 70k hours engine life xD
did math, its 3,555 flight hours for the hot parts
thx m8! that’s not bad tbh
it should be noted that this report is from 1991 and iirc there have been some improvements to PW-220 since then, but it provides good assesment of early/mid 80’s (since thats when the PW-220 is from) American operational fighter engine life
yeah
