They could just give it the stealth under wing missile pods. 10 missiles, and no need for HMD with powerful AESA and stealth. Just won’t be flying it the same as other fighters.
Likewise with the pods and as others have said, it is being tested with HMD so Gaijin can feel free to add it. They’ve taken much larger liberties.
Probably one of the jets that people were anticipating the most for this patch together with the AESA Typhoons.
I’m almost sure the devs didn’t have the model ready for it yet, so they just went for the easy copy paste route (SM2), but with the downside that it was 100x more controversial than the Su-35 was ever gonna be.
Yep, i can defo say they didnt have the model ready, and cuz of the su30MKM situation; they wanted russia to retain the best 30SM variant, so here we are…. Like i said before, even if it was controversial, internal bug reports were up for the engines as far as i can confirm. So bug reporter mods were also pushing it and overall gaijin had to give it something over the original 30sm, now we stuck with a su35 lite version lolol. Either way im enjoying the game.

Well we never gave a single jet 14 missiles.
Yet there is no draw back from carrying that many missiles.
Typhoon has ejector pylons, these reduce drag.
Sukhoi still uses older pylons with no effort at drag reduction.
R-77-1 is somehow superior to a later variant of a 120 in all aspects.
Rafale has been a problem so instead of balancing the game they added a new Su-30 and made it the joint best jet in the game. While Typhoon and F-15 have been well and truly left behind.
The AESA and an extra 2 120s are nice but 120s are the worst ARHM at top tier by a long margin and 9Ms are the worst IR missile.
As for the R-77 AOA well Gaijin also don’t manage how awful the grid fins are and why no other natiom persisted with them.
And brother please Russian jets/props have broken the game loads of times.

I remember the 21 BIS added, had it’s war emergency power mode modelled and R-60s could be used in all aspect.
23 yeah good luck getting near it in an F-4. Armed with 2 missiles that were a free kill and only when Gaijin decided the Radar and fm are overperforming did it become balanced.

Im not sure why youre so surprised about it tho? R-77-1 was a much more later missile 2015 v what like C-5 is early 2000s? Also ive said, and im pretty sure devs have constantly heard it about their underperforming pull performance but they wont revisit a single missile cuz they some what prefer adding new missiles and keeping the things the way they are( its why some nations got C-5s in their pov being a better missile and R-77-1 for rus, france i guess still needs Mica nG in service, idk why israel and china havent gotten a better missile yet) . Like yes buff and revert the fin aoa that got nuked, but it was done because other missiles didnt have any other aspect or saving grace at the time since amraam had quite a huge range performance. The only reason it became an issue this year is meta showed that missiles with better seeker or pull performance or both dominate because everyone learned to notch. But yeah go buff it and ive never disagreed w it, all the 120 threads guys will be mad at me for saying that but it shows how ironic when a game doesnt exactly line up in their favor they talk about buffing or revisiting the missiles.
They just gave eurofighters an esa and 2x more ARH missiles whilst still have insane cm and the best dogfighting model in the game lol. And then F-15C Ge got BOL+ the usual esa+ 4 more arh missiles. Its sitting with 12 ARH missile directly competing with the damn su30sm/sm2 in terms of total ARH pylons. All the su30sm2 is engine/radar upgrade, we didnt get any more missiles. Not an endurance upgrade which both american and eurocanard nations got and far exceed.
Additionally a superhornet, which i might add whilst maybe not the best bvr performance, statshark does show has quite a flight performance upgrade in the dogfighting sector. Great benefits there,
Like i said, metas have come n gone, but russian jets havent been the top meta for atleast 2 and half years but people all of a sudden have an issue when its russia. Threads like “Su30sm2 should be weakened” where was “rafale should be weakened” type threads?? Where were “R-77 should get buffed” threads, heavily underperforming? I know you acknowledge them but this is purely angering everytime we get something good the forums instantly blow up. Kinda fed up with that non sense.
And what about the R-60s/Ms too n their flare resistance get nuked to oblivion to the point now it sees 1 flare, 1 damn flare and its fully flared even with afterburner. Kinda wild to think such is the performance from where soviets went using that to R-73s with marginally improved seekers?
100 meter multipath was absolutely the most brain dead easy thing we had at the time. Dying to radar missiles was pretty much a free will. And today theyve nuked missile damage to the point its hit simulator( not relevant to the topic but just kinda wild to think about)
And both 23 and 29 fms today are almost near horrible to play with. R-60Ms on both flare eats whilst youre 2 little radar missiles getting mp’d or shrapnel/splash damage causing a hit simulator.
Overall point is, play either one nation n just be there for what it has to offer overall as a tree(what i did w ru, and will continue to do so cuz i dislike wasting time grinding other nations and didnt care if it was meta or not at the time) or play other nations and have everything at your will.
Making comments or talking about this or that is underperforming or over performing or “thats very superior” when you yourself have seen metas jets come n go, its just about time before another nation becomes a top dawg.

And su30sm2 threads was active before the damn jet even came to live servers. People were freaking about it on dev. Remind where were rafales thread even remotely close to that level activity?

Turns out when you leave your afterburners on all the time, lets IR missiles lock easier at wider angles
F-22s began being fit with Scorpion HMD at the start of 2025.
Along with that, F-22s finished testing a sensor upgrade, which should include IRST and MAWS.
But since it was tested on a F-22, by Gaijins logic they can give the F-22 MAWS, IRST, and HMD.
Here, this one works for the SM2.
I’ve just taken to doing it myself.
All you really have to do is copy a Su-30SM2.Blk into the skin folder, and then make the SM2 skin data route to the SM User skin.

Can’t wait to watch all these SM2 skins get broken once an updated model with the missing 14CMs comes out (So like, in 6 months).
It’s not exclusive to RU, any of the Big 3 getting something clearly broken is going to make more waves than a minor nation getting something that eventually got buffed too much. Su-30SM2 was literally on dev performing amazingly while on dev, Rafale was mediocre and limited to much weaker loadouts. It took gaijin at least a few months to make Rafale broken. But once Rafale became top dog, everyone constantly cried about it. Again, your skill issue for not managing to see any of that.
