Suggestion on strike aircrafts/bomber gameplay in air battles

In the higher BR most fighters are multirole. They are much faster than typical strike aircrafts and also carry enough ordinance to destroy bases (the main source of RP for strike aircrafts). Since it is very difficult for strike aircrafts to contest bombing targets with fighters like the F-4s, F-104s, and Mig-23s, I suggest a multiplier specific to strike aircrafts and bombers for hitting AI ground units to reward players using their aircrafts for their intended purposes and to reduce the significance of bases.

The increased rewards should be in RPs and SLs only, not in tickets because wining the game through AI ground kills would not be a good thing for air battles. Flying low, hitting ground targets while avoiding fighters, makes for much more fun and engaging gameplay than the suicide rush for bases currently (Which the strike aircrafts usually lose to fighters anyway, but there are no other options).

All they need to do is, remove the diminishing returns mechanic.

Currently, the more bombs you take, the less reward you get from each target. So if I were to run 12x bombs on the Tonka and start striking AI targets, I would probably end up earning less than if I were running only 5 bombs and hit a single base. (im not sure if GBUs are affected by the same mechanic, but you also generally cant carry as many)

That imo, is why hitting AI targets can be quite unrewarding, is because they literally reward less when you a running enough bombs to make that worth while. Would also be nice if AI targets were spread out more, they often leave you very vulnerable to attack.

This is a typical match for me. 7 Mig-23MLs and 4 F-4s all suicide rushed to the bases and all died without doing much at all.

well considering I can take 18 Mk 82 snake eyes or 4 GBU-8s both with a 6.5 multiplier it is evidently quite a bit of a drop imo might as well use the 18 and get ground kills. Although the 6 Mk84s give a 5.3 reward multiplier, so it cant be much different if I’m correct. (Im probably not)

Do you mean the diminishing returns?

you said you didn’t know about GBUs so I gave an answer

Oh right. I see.

What I meant is that the more bombs you take the less reward you get.

My test vs a base in the Tonka GR4:

Bombs RP SL Score
5 4410 10540 536
6 3901 9320 473
7 3533 8441 428
8 3257 7781 396
9 3045 7268 369
10 2872 6861 348
11 2733 6523 331
12 2616 6244 317

Im not sure if this also applies to GBUs.

So if you had something like GBU-39s, whether you would also get reduced rewards per AI target killed because you might have a load of them.

Yes, fr

I honestly have no idea I don’t even try getting to bases anymore in my A10 just ground pound with mavericks and my GAU. But I’d assume it still does drop because its still a bomb

I go you one better, remove any base bombing rewards to any A/C classified as a “fighter” or “interceptor”.

In higher Brs multi role aircraft are labeled as Fighters. Multi Role Aircraft are meant to be able to take on multiple roles, including bombing. They should still get rewards for preforming these tasks but aircraft specifically identified as Strike aircraft should get more.

I am of the opinion that they should add a new class of aircraft for “multiroles” and so that would potentailly eliminate that issue.

But I do think its the wrong approach.

  • Increase the A2A rewards for “fighters”
  • Increase the A2G rewards for “Strike Aircraft”
  • Remove diminishing returns mechanics
  • General gamemode updates

I have a post that can still be accessed on my full views on attacker changes needed

I agree this is the correct approach. Give incentives for players to play their aircraft in their main role without limiting their ability to play it in other ways.
