Bring Back Meaningful Tournament Rewards – And Make Them Fair for Everyone
In recent years, War Thunder tournaments have seen a noticeable decline in Golden Eagle (GE) rewards. Today, even first-place prizes often sit around 500–600 GE, which feels disproportionately low considering the amount of skill, coordination, and time it takes to win.
This drop in rewards has made it harder to justify the grind, especially for newer players who might otherwise be interested in competitive play. It’s also hurting the long-term health of TSS tournaments, which used to be one of the most exciting parts of War Thunder’s community.
For comparison, earlier tournaments like:

offered much more meaningful GE rewards, making the competitive experience feel both valuable and rewarding.
Proposed Solution: Increase Rewards, Add Balance
I’m suggesting two changes:
Increase the overall GE prize pools to bring back meaningful rewards.
Introduce a monthly personal GE cap for tournament rewards to prevent abuse or excessive farming by the same top players.
Personal Prize Pool System – How It Works
Each player would have a monthly cap on how much GE they can earn through tournaments. Once that cap is reached, players can continue to compete, but won’t earn additional GE until the next month.
This would:
Stop the top 1% of players from farming all the GE.
Keep tournaments competitive but more accessible and rewarding for mid-tier players.
Still allow elite teams to play for bragging rights, cosmetics, and exclusive rewards.
Reward Tracking & Overflow System
A progress bar shows how much GE a player has earned that month.
After reaching the cap, players unlock overflow rewards like:
Rare decals
Skins
Unique titles
Booster packs or SL
This way, rewards don’t stop—they just shift away from the in-game currency, keeping things fresh and engaging.
Anti-Abuse Protections
To prevent players from bypassing the system:
Caps are account-based.
Alt accounts showing unusual behavior could be flagged like having the same ip adress as a player who hit their cap.
Players are encouraged to play legit, mentor others, or try new modes.
Why This Helps Everyone
Gaijin already manages GE distribution. Increasing tournament rewards wouldn’t break the economy—it would revitalize a shrinking competitive scene, give players more reasons to participate, and restore the energy tournaments used to have.
I’ve personally never placed higher than 4th, so this isn’t about chasing more GE for myself. I just want to see tournaments grow again. War Thunder has the potential for a thriving competitive community—it just needs better support.
Please consider this idea—for the players who love this game, want to compete, and want to see the tournament scene become something truly special again.
