The JAS39A is currently high in win rate so even though it is missing so many things that historically it had, nothing is going to change
We have another viggen situation where we have a plane with the armaments from the version before, or in the case of the JAS39A, the armament of never.
It will now go
JAS39NG - 120-c5
JAS39E - meteor
god knows where the 12-c8 will go but it seems rather daft the first plane to fire it, use in service and just generally have integrated will not get meteor
It’d be like if the Super Hornet was the first to have Amraams and the F18C only had Aim 7Ps
So @Smin1080p_WT what will happen because at present we have very non historic loadouts for both JAS39’s?
JAS39A has Skyflash yet shouldnt as the missile was taken out of service for the version we have in game
JAS39C has all the MS.20 upgrades yet still stuck with the 90s missiles which, to the best of my knowledge, have been replaced by newer versions.
Once again Swedish Aircraft have become an aircraft limited to weaponry from the decade before
This happened to the Viggens and is now happening to the Gripens and it leaves so many issues when adding new aircraft as they will come with loadouts that are decades old instead of what the variant was fitted around and there is already the issue of not having enough aircraft for the amount of weaponry left as the JAS39A was just skipped causing the knock on effect.
This time there is no JA37Di to fill in the last gap of weaponry, even if that too has a fake missile.
In my opinion what should happen is either just give the JAS39A AIM 120B and the JAS39C have AIM 120 C-5, even if the version in game should have meteor as we have skipped a JAS39C variant.
Or
Add another JAS39A, folder preferably, which either takes the loadout of the current JAS39A but lacks the 2000s equipment or add a JAS39A the exact loadouts we have now except skyflash with amraam instead and the 13.0 one loses the 2000s equipment
Eh, wouldn’t surprise me tbh, considering their approach on Finnish Hornets.
Even tho they added MLU package it’s still missing AGM65’s, meanwhile Swiss hornets gets it due to being compatible guess Sweden doesn’t deserve another cas plane.
14.0 is a bit of a push, considering it can hold 6 missiles maximum, and others can hold much more and also receive AIM-120C-5 -at a lower BR. F-16C getting -C5s wouldn’t push it to 14.0
worth noting the C-5 isn’t some miracle missile, its honestly not that much better than the AIM-120A/B. iirc its just more manoeuvrable w/ slightly better range (INGAME). I don’t think receiving it when you have access to A/B is deserving of an entire BR step*.
high? its winrate is at 57% the second lowest of all Gripens. only beaten by the Hungarian Gripen. but it only played 56 games the last month to Gripen A’s 472.
yes, and the JAS 39A’s radar isnt even able to guide the aim-7. it cant fire it. the JAS was never inteded to use the aim-7 since it was an obsolete missile.
idealy it should be like this
JAS39A Aim-120B
JAS-39C Aim-120C-5
JAS-39NG AIM-120C-8 (tho idealy the NG should have meteor too)
JAS-39E Meteor
its greater than 50 therefore is high in the eyes of the snail, no need to buff bc of it
i 100% agree as C-8 is less of a step up compared to meteor and therefore shouldnt be a major variant but C-8 was acquired after the NG kinda stopped existing i think
as for this idk, it was obsolete and why they were taken out of inventory around like 2002 or 1999, before the variant we have in game is dated, but Blue vixen i dont think its 100% it cant CW via HPRF or some other magic but its just highly unlikely
it has longer range, and improved seeker. but by how much. idk. but its still in active use by many countries.
and the NG was what became the E, NG was the tech demo for the E and can do stuff the E cant.
Like fiering Brimstones.
me and some friends who researched it scoured everywhere for info on the Gripen A’s radar. and every source we found, wich wasnt many, said it is missing the component to guide the AIM-7. it literally cant guide the missile.
