as said in the last event you could track the torp with a camera and manually steer it
You could also go out of this view and let its sonar do the job in the terminal phase
IRL however it should look more like ARH missile : select a target and fire. Unlike ARH though, you can change its path while it’s travelling, so long as the wire is not cut

You could actually earn the “laughing swordfish” decal during the battle of the atlantic event two years ago.
Tbh, a lot of decals we have should look pretty good on submarine sails. Though I’d love to see more submarine specific ones too

I got that one.
Gaijin has been putting decals on the back burner not with standing the new kill ticks.
But for stuff like subs and sub nations there should be more unlock able decals.
What are your favourite submarines that you guys want in the game?
For me it would definitely be the Whiskey class and the skipjack class and of course the I-400 or any other wacky and weird submarine.

Here are my three
I think this sub has good utility if ever added in game. You can sneak around in shallow water and destroy dug in battleships. In enduring confrontation might have an unhealthy amount of survivability
Cold War black ops sub. Small and would likely if added the most powerful/newest sub in game but with very low ammo count. If she gets her frog man equipment she would have an extremely long reach
The Italian chariot + Katsonis (S-115)
Would be fun to see get in smash something get out kind of tool. Would give some of the Guppy class subs something unique
Tell me what you guys think about seeing some of the more black ops mini subs in game like the chariot and stuff. There sisters where bolted to larger subs providing a unique load out with special tactics.

There was a report of a timed explosive and mini and I mean mini torpedoes possibly developed.

Can’t believe that one day we will get our submarines and then this discussion will probably be closed right?
At this point I just want to thank you all for contributing and trying to get them to implement submarines. I was hoping for them since they added the naval beta.
I think/hope that we are close but nonetheless thank you all. Submarine discussion has to be my favourite one.

I don’t think that will be necessary, having a community-led thread in the Machinery section doesn’t seem to overlap w/ the purpose of any potential official ones.
Though when the time comes, I’ll have to remember to rewrite the OP to redirect people looking to talk abt things that definitely will be the exclusive use of an Official News section post: feedback for the devs to hear, questions to the community managers abt bug reports or intended future plans, that kind of thing. Like what we did while the Battle of the Atlantic event was running, but on a more permanent basis. Don’t let me forget !

I suppose a uss nevada(Sub) to go with my uss nevada(BB). Though nuclear ballistic submarines may be 10+ years away at this point.

I think we could see them earlier then you think atomic reactors are just a different way to boil water. There torpedoes don’t care.

I think they’re not too far off. WTM already has several nuclear submarines, including modern ones.
The only question about ballistic missile subs is how to balance them. Since their armament is strategic, not tactical, they would have a lower performance than other similarly-equipped submarines of the same time period…
Unless Gaijin adds some kind of missile launch objective to naval battles which would be actually really cool
