Problem is that if someone bring subs into 7.0 game, those 3.0 - 4.0 sub chasers will be evaporated 0,001 second after their spawn protection ends.
That’s why implementing submarines will need to come alongside map, mission, and gameplay changes.
Naval needs those whether subs come or not, to be fair.

Why? most subs are meant to operate in the deep ocean, hence “Bluewater” maybe midget subs would be coastal? lol

Sure I get killed coming in sometimes, but you can ambush in teh various island maps, or catch someone distracted quite often even in open water.
I haven’t been playing naval much with this air event going on, but next time I get a kill like this I’ll send you teh replay link :)
That wont solve problem with zero anti-sub capabilities of 7.0 ships. I dare you to bring Fletcher into 7.0 game.
Like, dreadnoughts will be food for submarines because they are slow and old. Maybe we will get some ww2 refits and torpedo nets/bulges but that wont be enough. And if they make era based-ish tech tree like it is with tanks and airplanes and put dreadnoughts on first rank, then you can just keep it in your lineup until toptier because the sheer firepower will be OP until you see missile ships, if they are added.
Maybe if they add similar matchmaking like they have in Naval EC like this…
100% agreed on this, which is why I am not overly eager for subs, since I seriously doubt Gaijin will fix anything of this unfortunately!

The name of the tree is just flavour text, they’re really split into “fleet ships” (destroyers, cruisers, battleships, carriers) and “non-fleet/etc ships”.
Subs will most likely be in the Coastal tree, especially as they’ll match up well in gameplay terms, including BRs, and will give more incentive to grind those trees.
This justifies it much better than I ever could.
And you have enough faith in Gaijin that they will implement submarines in a fashion that will be enjoyable in EC?
Because I don’t to be honest…although I can see them be somewhat usable in EC at least.
God - imagine Subs in EC, doing their 6-8 knots underwater across that map… 2 hours actual time to get anywhere, and people think that’s going to be fun??
Spawn point placement can go some way to mitigate that, also it’s not like they have to be submerged constantly, some people may want to try get within 5km or closer to a battleship or other large slow vessel.
I also have a suspicion that destroyer and frigate players might see submarines much the same way as fighter pilots see bombers, as rp piñatas. Jokes on them though when they rush in, lose sonar solution, and don’t know where the submarine is until a torpedo slams into their stern straight from their baffles.
