Submarines - WT Discussion

you counting premium’s squadron’s and past event area

Why should I? Current premium lines can accommodate both submarines and other vessels without any issues.

because premiums is it’s own thing why would tech tree stuff be on the premium side for stuff?

There is a confusion here. I mean there are 3 lines at max occupied by regular vessels in both coastal and bluewater TTs, there should be enough of space to place at least a single line of submarines for each nation (I’m not sure if more required for submarines, maybe only USA or Russia).
As for premium lines, I mean premium/event submarines can be accomodated in current premium lines, I’m not talking about regular ones.

And Smin never replied…

I personally think they will add submarines to coastal and then 5 years later they will add carriers to bluewater. Just imo.

Cuz there are pretty small submarines that are more like small coastal boats, that just can also dive.

And when they will add better, stronger, more modern subs with ASMs - they will most definitely add ASM boats to coastal as well, so, it won’t end on 5.0 or something as it does now?

I don’t think it’s gonna be an event, we had subs as events so many times, it would be very weird to have another one, and not (at least) a CBT

Yeah Smin isn’t going to tell you about what’s happening with the sub tease’s from the CM update.
Until there is official news as I have said a few times here and it is common knowledge CM’s aren’t going to confirm anything before they can.

Most likely they’ll be available in naval EC

I suspect that is why the mode was made available all days

Playing submarines on a 25 minutes game would have been basically impossible when you consider how slow they are, while throwing torps and defending a point for 1h while repositionning when a DD / CC / BB attacks seems more reasonable

I honestly hope for news on submarines very soon. For me this is literally the most exciting WT thing this year XD

But I’ll try my best to be patient :D

When I first played the new EC 2 weeks ago, I thought it woeld be perfect for submarines. And just 2 weeks later this tease… I’m really excited XD

Ah, yes. I love travelling 18 kilometers to the nearest point of interest on my 18 km/h vessels…

I suspect they’ll have a more defensive role, but i guess we’ll see

Plus on the surface they’re more around 25-35 kph

Not fast by any means, don’t get me wrong, but more bearable than 18 at least
No need to be submerged at all times

It depends on a submarine, but I remember when I tried to use coastal in EC… I started watching “netflix” after the first 20-minute trip I made.

Yeah its one of the things I am most hyped about as well.

It’s always best to be and hopefully we don’t have to wait to long for some exciting news.

I couldn’t agree more!

And that gif is funny XD

K-222 would be the best in naval EC, lol. 84km/h underwater and… 30 above the water for some reason.

True;
the Type VII could get around 14.1kph submerged and 32.8kph surfaced

Type IX could get around 14.3kph submerged and 33.7kph surfaced

And the Type XXI was the other way around, with 31.9kph submerged and 28.9kph on the surface.

Yeah, these are my personal favorites, I don’t really know the speeds of others XD

Basically because modern submarine are very well streamlined for underwater travel, also don’t have that bow wave that usually causes drag and their screws perform better fully underwater.

There are probably some other factors, but these are some I know a little bit of

“for some reason” would be wave drag surface tension

WW2 subs were boats designed to go underwater
Cold war and modern are designed to be submerged always, so they have a hull with water penetration in mind, but are quite limited on the surface (speed, maneuverability, and general comfort)

K222 is not the only sub in this case, basically every modern sub is like this
