Yes, I know that. I just meant that in a way it was kinda modeled
Maybe there is a chance for these to be implemented similar to aircraft, launched from other vessels.
Depiction of I-24 carrying Ha-18 (couldn’t find a good quality photo)
Hopefully we can see Deguassing rings, as most subs should have magnetic mines, Leigh lights for some British aircraft to help teams spot submarines, and finally plane dropped depth charges!
There are also very interesting torpedoes that could come to the Uboats. I don’t know much abou other nations torps
A lot of potential for actual fleet operations in Naval EC
I believe boats 3.0 and under now more than ever should be allowed in Naval EC due to boats like the Brantford (2.3) being great for defending convoys due to its slow speed and good amount of depth charges and for the most part almost all low tier boats (especially German ones) are armed with depth charges.
In the previous weekend there was a guy in Naval EC camping in a cap zone with a PT boat, torping my team constantly when we were going on an assault, so they definitely have their place XD
I see the SF 40 Heavy/Light being a great boat for protecting conveys from Planes, and the VS-8 would be a great vehicle for rushing, laying mines, and then running away! There’s so much potential for them!
Yeah, so true
Maybe it’s time to back to the mechanics to implement with the submarine. Let’s put those more advance cold war era ASW equipment apart (despite we already have tons of them in game), Gaijin need to implement proper WW2 ASW equipment first. I bet most player don’t even know the range of Hedgehog ASW motor, so Gaijin need to bring back Impact point display for depth charges as in Battle of Atlantic and a proper aiming system for other ASW motor that has variable range (especially RUR-4 Weapon Alpha and A/S Mk.10 Limbo, their drop was so unpredictable now). Also, how would they implement Hydrophone, Sonar and such? Will Gaijin give the most basic sonor like other WW2 vessel to cold war ASW vessel just like how Gaijin nerfed their radar? Or they will simply only allowed specific surface vessel to engage in the submarine mode?
And go back to submarine, will they made the buoyancy system as in Battle of Atlantic, or as in the Silent Thunder? The anti-gravity buoyancy bug in Silent Thunder can still be seen on the Zeppelin in The Great War event. And rehaul of naval map might be needed if submarine gonna add to the standard naval game mode, or we might get our brand new subs stuck on reef like “Whiskey On The Rocks”.
We have to wait
Did you got that profie pic through a pre order? I adore those hats, but inhave a feeling warthunder nowdays dont create much profile picks nowdays, mostly via pre orders. I would love to see a NE style Profile pic
might be an unpopular take, but IMO surcoufs best thing isn’t the funny guns, but the fact that it can rotate some of its torpedo tubes
Will most likely make hit and run a bit easier. Smaller french subs like 1500T (Requin) is the same, but also does not carry 4000t around, so stealthier and maybe a bit more maneuverable
Yes I did make a post explaining as much above.
Yeah it was via the HMS Nelson Pre-order
I also know from experience lol, I have one waiting for it to become valid
All those mechanics I mentioned are WW2 not cold war
I know.
Should be especially useful in WT, for you don’t need to turn your hull to shoot a torps at your target.
There’s a lot of things to figure out in terms of where to start with submarines.
ASDIC, relative acoustic profiles, which era to start with, torpedo’s, spawn points, modes etc etc.
How they choose to balance it all is particularly interesting to me as a British player (and should be for Italian and French players too), in that we retain glorified submersible torpedo boats in the WW2 period rather than submarines, whereas Type VII’s, Gato’s, I-15’s, and Malyutka/Shchtuka classes are all a bit ahead of what we field.
And thats without going into the details of limited production big names like Type XXI, I-201/I-400, Balao/Tench and others.
The UK for example won’t do great until Amphion or the Super T’s, but to do that we’d need to argue for the quietest acoustic profile of all subs and the best sonar systems, which depends on whether gaijin wants to model that.
