While Sweden doesn’t currently have a naval tree, cough cough, their subs would be the best.
Would naval need a rework if sub’s are added?
Mainly because for the Smaller ship’s like destroyer’s and sub hunter’s to destroy sub’s, They would need to be able to kinda hunt sub’s freely without the risk of being one shot from bigger ships?
I’m thinking a sub hiding being near a friendly battleship might be a deadly duo but idk
sorry i wasn’t clear enough
i meant the time it takes to go from *
surface to completely submerged
Somewhat, though it is worth considering that the sub in this case is acting defensively, and to some degree unlike a Surface combatant has significant limits on its engagement capacity (potentially even more so if limited to either straight running or pattern running torpedos) so is not in any way fast reacting.
And in effect would be wasting its potential impact on the match if it is shadowing the Battleship, and having things the other way around means that the BB is likely transiting open water, which is much harder to traverse and so likely to attract the attention of the opposing forces, or threat submarines, to allow the sub to reach a suitable firing position for most maps choke points and flanking routes.
Subs for most purposes can be though of as a really slow and stealthy PT boat.
Honestly dive speed will be a really important statistic for subs in War Thunder.
Bigger, more powerful subs tend to dive slower, smaller ones can be more agile.
are you sure? smaller ones would have more sueface area for their size
a larger vessel can have more HP/m2 of water touching surface
Yep, I’m sure. Smaller coastal boats would be able to get underwater faster than larger fleet boats, which even carries through into modern submarines with SSBNs usually taking much longer to submerge than smaller attack boats.
I’m not familiar with all of the mechanics but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the total amount of water required to gain negative buoyancy
Yes Submarines are incredibly fragile, slow unless they are late WW2 subs like the U-21, and easy easy prey for enemy destroyers, heavy and light cruisers + anti-sub aircraft. However 1 torp may not do much, but a salvo of them in a compartment area in the same spot will be a danger just like irl torps.
Submarines are the ultimate gladd cannon, they cannot do much but if they hit you with their torps fully you are done. But most ships ingame that are battleships that cannot maneuver easily can tank 1-2 torps without issue like irl.
I’m going to convince myself that the recent update that removed waves from Naval is because Gaijin is messing with the code on the back end, prepping for a rework
SH-3 Seaking time bois
Let’s gooooo!
haha same
played a game of EC today & it’s just reinforced my belief that submarines are absolutely needed. The sooner they arrive, the better.
Having Subs and and further addition of ASW Would be amazing. Imagine getting cold war era in the game with ASW Helis and Jets on top of cold war era ships like an upgraded USS Iowa. Id love to see naval at that point some day.
Some French subs of cold war seems to be made for ramming xD
Argonaute (S 636) (1958)
But i rassure you we also made more classic ones later :p
Le Redoutable (S611) (first class of SSBN made by France, 1971)
I always loved how the Aréthuse class looked
@Motherhen357 I’m surprised you haven’t posted the ship debris datamines in here yet, or Gszabi’s comments about them
Which ones? Please post them
