Soo i had a match where i accidentaly killed a teammate. Then i was shooting RVV-AE at F-15, but somehow it hit my teamamte and i got kicked from the game… I was praying that i didnt get banned, but thank god i didnt. Why the hell it likes to lock on teammates soo much
How are you locking them? With TWS, ACM or HMD?
Im using HMD most of the time
First:
Relax, you don’t get banned for doing that once or even twice if it’s an accident.
Now… this may happen for a variety of reasons:
- You’re launching missiles on weak locks (One white circle over target = weak lock, two red circles over target = strong lock to be short) which leads to the radar homing seeker to find the target again by its own, hitting allies.
- You’re launching missiles top down, which also leads to the missile going IOG and losing lock, and when it gets a lock back, it may go to an ally, same as above.
Either way, we need more context.
on that specific F-15 it was 2 red circles… and it was straight launch
If your HMD is over a teammate and you press lock, then it will lock them. HMD doesn’t check if it is an enemy or teammate like TWS would.
If the missile itself is chasing a teammate after you fired on an enemy, could be that the missile lost lock and reacquired using its own radar. Its radar doesn’t discriminate either.
yeah could be, but i saw that allot of people are talking about this issue on su30mk2 specifically
that is because a bunch of people who dont know how to use the missiles are buying it
okay :)
as @Alpharius11348 said, its because it is a new top tier premium for one of the biggest nations in War Thunder. WT is big in Russia and there’s lots of Communist/USSR nerds out there so it’ll always be one of the most played nations, therefore inviting way more skill issue. The MiG-23 has loads of bad players but the plane itself is great :)
Mig-23ml is fantastic plane. I know how too use missiles, its just weird that it actually lock better on teammates then enemy. I think its a feature
You TK’ed two teammates in one match lol
yeap
If the person you fire the missile at turns to break radar lock and your team mate gets in the way it will tag your team mate and track them instead.
Happened to me many times before, so you just gotta be quick and unlock your target and let the missile die or lose track before re-engaging
You need to make sure there is a fair bit of space between your target and your team mates as ARH missiles will go after the brightest radar return in their FOV the same way heat seekers will go after the hottest target.
He was using AVV-AEs (export R-77s) so unfortunately that tactic doesn’t work.
