They won’t make that kind of radical change. Even if the aircraft is basically the same. They have sold the “Su-39” to people. If they now change it to the Su-25TM or TK, people would get mad.
When it comes to premiums, even tiny changes are an uphill battle.
Shoot stuff down pretty consistently with su 39 in air. It’d be nice to have more effective options, but as it stands, it works. Even came top of the team a few matches back. It isn’t great, but you can make do.
Adding a thermal imager for the Su-25t and Su-39 would equalize them. Then we can add p-27r for su-39. Considering you can’t use them without radar, you have to sacrifice the thermal imager. So you will never see it at the same time.
Separate BRs would give you the ability to put the su-39 higher in air mode than the su-25t, and in joint mode they would be together.
Simple solution
Since Gaijin has now decided to add rank 8 premiums stating there is no limit besides maximum BRs for premiums I see no reason to limit the SU-39 anymore (and the SU-25T). I wanna see a SU-25 slinging R-77s at the opps.
Why ruin its CAS BR with R-27/77’s though?
I mean its official that both Ground RB and Air RB will now have separate battle ratings, give the thing some R-27s or maybe even some R-77s and you’ll have a new top tier premium.
I’m very happy with the state of the Su-25SM3 in war thunder right now, as it really does seem to step up to the plate as the end game Frogfoot with its mix of sensors, optics, and weapons.
The only thaing I’ve noticed right now is that it’s extra countermeasures don’t seem to be currently modeled fully, and I don’t know if anyone knows what the full count should be?
Also the Kh-38MT seems bugged rn as it won’t ever track a target, only but a stationary spot

that kh38 missile looks promising. Will have to test but its range does appear good enough to actually hit long range targets unlike the kh29s which depend greatly on altitude and are more like glide bombs at any significant range
Currently it has a tracking range of 20km on the dev server for both targets and ground.
That’s equal to the AGM-65D for tracking range, and 4km short for ground.

Either way, these will still outrange every SPAA other than Pantsirs handily. Especially if they get buffed beyond 20km tracking range.
Actually, this might be the first time in a while CAS will have a unilateral advantage over SPAA. Even the AGM-65D has only a 20km tracking range (same as Pantsir). These have 8+ km more range than the best NATO SPAA, 6km over the TOR.
It’s also very bugged rn tho, and currently can’t be used properly. Tho I imagine this will be fixed and is simply just that, a bug
Max firing range and max tracking range are often very different in game. You can fire the missile in point mode at 40km, but it probably won’t even see and start tracking the target until about 10km or under.
The AGM-65D is much the same, it can be launched at around 20, but only starts tracking till about 10 and under in most situations.
The new KHs seem to not work. This the case or is it user error?
The IR guided ones are still work-in-progress, they just lock the ground currently.
That’s like straight up wrong. Ever since 27k was introduced cas played correctly has 100% advantage.
And Mavs are worst because they are easy to kill and slow and fire and forget is a major disadvantage

Advantage, yes, but ADATS/Roland 3/VT-1 have the opportunity to kill the attacking aircraft, even if it’s only barely.
Kh-38T will allow the user to enter tracking range, search for a target, fire, and turn around, without ever entering the maximum launch range of any non-Russian SPAA
They don’t have chance. If they have it means you are having skill issue. It’s very visible in SRE once the air fight is over spaa is useless. The only chance is either hiding until they think you don’t exist or engage during air to air or trying to shoot down missiles (bombs are harder to kill) but you can manoeuvre them. Honestly the only limitation is mapsize in ground battles since often you can only climb in one or two directions
