Su-39: R77,R27,R73

That’s actually pretty sad lol

Yeah and that’s good, nobody here wants it to be OP, we want it to be USABLE in ARB, similar to how the A-10 is USABLE at 10.0, but not amazing

Yes but you’ve been adamant that it shouldn’t get R-27s because “it’s a strike aircraft not a fighter” when there are plenty of western aircraft like the F-16C, Barak II, F-14B and even the AV-8B that are all capable of working both as fighters and as amazing strike aircraft. Given that Russian top tier doesn’t have a multirole on par with the F-16C, it seems fair to make the SU-39 more capable in the A2A role.

I see plenty of people argue that the A-10/A-6s are obnoxiously OP at 10.3 and whenever I’ve tried taking out aircraft like the Hunter into ARB. I’d have to agree. Maybe its a compression issue at that BR, but there is a very very fine line between “usable” and “god-aweful OP”. For aircraft meant for GRB and balanced with that gamemode in mind, they can easily either be OP or massively underpowered in ARB.

The biggest concern I have about giving not minor buffs to the Su-39. Is that they’ll never be enough, You’ve just got R-73s, you are now asking for R-27Rs, we are nearing an ARH era, so its not far fetched for people asking for R-77s. Just very very quickly the Su-39 could begin to snowball.

i.e:

  • Asks for better AAMs, recieves them with BR increase
  • Because of BR increase asks for better A2G loadout
  • A2G loadout is OP in GRB and so gets a BR increase
  • Ask for better AAMs because of BR increase
and on and on and on.

There must come a point where you need to ask, “what is this aircraft for?” Do you want it to be strong in GRB or strong in ARB?

Jaguar Gr1/Gr1A are pretty difficult aircraft at the moment. The 2x Aim-Gs arent really enough anymore in ARB but it cant get Aim-9Ls despite the fact it actually carried them, because its transonic. At 10.3 that could be very OP and the aircraft would be pointless above 10.3 because of the current ground line up we have in Britain at that BR. So it will have to continue to struggle in ARB for the sake of its GRB performance.

This shall always be a problem. Until such time that either we

A) Get a better gamemode for strike aircraft such as an RB EC gamemode (Su-39, Jaguar, Tornado, etc etc all do really well in SB currently)

B) Get seperated ARB and GRB BRs

IMO the SU-25T already provides an option for an R-73 equipped ground pounding late frogfoot. The IRL difference between the SU-25T and the SU-39 was the ability to equip better AAMs, and I think that should exist in game to better differentiate the two. As it stands it’s a 70 dollar premium that isn’t any different from the TT version. That’s a big part of why I haven’t bought it yet.

Especially if they added ground attack weaponry its currently missing.

It is.

Again, they shot themselves in the foot making it premium. They can’t move it up or down with ease and it can’t change radically

I still find it ridiculous that people just simply dont understand , that it was supposed to be a CAS option for Ground players that they can buy without needing to progress trough an entire Air tree to reach that BR. It never was supposed to be realy used in ARB, people just ducking dont understand that. From what i heard it is good in SIM battles as well, just not good in Air. It doesnt matter what its capabilities were in real life. Thats not the job gajin wants it to have in the game. Gajin already promised they will add a better su 25 version later on with all the feature and popably name it SU 39 Late or something.

But as it stands they cant do anything anymore about this premium vehicle. Because that isnt its job. People already fought over when it was introduced to change its positions with the SU25T, but gajin declined because they have specific plans for the line already. You guys just need to suck it up currently and wait for the next SU 25 version that they will add

Is that first hand? Curious

I mean, sure but that doesn’t dictate that it shouldn’t get the weapons anyway.

but it does, its premium status currently just doesnt allow it, because then it would very likely break the 11.3 status of the Su 39, which currently isnt allowed, you arent supposed to be able to buy an air premium with any higher br.

Gajin specialy stated they will add a SU 39 with all capabilities u just need to wait

They never said that they’d add another Su-39, only a better variant of the Su-25, which could literally just be the SM3 which doesn’t have the same air to air capabilities but arguably better cas abilities but you could be right, they’d would add some weird nonexistent “late” version of it with all its options, not totally against it, they should’ve swapped out the 39 with a 25TM or 25TK when they had the chance imo.

yes, but like i stated on release all that was being discussed and why the playerbase wants that to happen, the air to air capabilities were named plenty of times during that discussion as well, when gajin as a result stated they have plans for all that. But thats why it just doesnt do anythin discussing this matter to death when it just isnt possible currently for this specific version because of the br limitation at least until we have tier 9 vehicles and as a result premium vehicles above the 11.3 br

And for clarities sake , the quote as well

They could just wait for the premium BR ceiling to go up as well, would make some sense.

so what i just said xD

Yes, lol I apologize, I skimmed.

Thanks

I’ve actually seen Su-39s in SB take on F-16s and win. Using a combo of its low speed turn performance or Vikhrs. Yeah, this is simply ARB sucking for a ground attacker that should never and would never seen a furball.
