Yet again I’ll repeat what I’ve said many times already. The SU-39 was made with the idea of diversity and compatibility, it’s not a normal “Strike Aircraft” isn’t it? USSR and now Russia wanted this vehicle to be able to engage bandits and destroy it without much issue but that’s the opposite in War Thunder.
A aircraft shouldn’t be forced to avoid its own gamemode to actually find a use for the vehicle. It’s also funny how 90% of the videos made on the SU-39 claim that its a miserable dog sh** aircraft that isn’t worth the money.
Currently the SU-39 is being artificially being nerfed and a example of this is the ability of the SU-39 being able to carry 4x R-60M’s instead of the mere 2x R-60M we’ve got in-game.
Funny how people constantly use the “Strike Aircraft”. I don’t think a Strike Aircraft with R-77, R-27, R-73 and EC pods for jamming radars is a normal Strike Aircraft.
not to mention that it is much more expensive to produce compared to the su-25tm because it was supposed to be a mixed plane with both air-to-air and air-to-ground power and compared to the aspect that the r-60m is crap today in one day it is necessary to change these missiles as quickly as possible because all the enemies you face all use aim-9l missiles that are superior to the obsolete r-60m
Gaijin added this aircraft give a good premium CAS aircraft to top tier players, the BR reflects its outstanding capabilities in doing such job.
The Tornado is also 11.3 and a way less meanier loadout yet again it finds at such br due to the CAS capabilities it has.
R-73 and R-77 shouldn’t be discussed at all and I have an hard time thinking that giving this aircraft R-27 is a good idea.
the tornado in the hands of experienced players becomes a fantastic plane and I had this opportunity to crew and test it and I saw that it was not all that people said about it and I agree with the missiles that you suggested but we have to take into account the other aircraft because the r60m are very obsolete compared to other countries as we can see the pithon for israel and the pl08 for china and the aim-9l for the allies
Dunno Tornado CAS loadout is pretty meh. MK1000 dumb bombs and 4 small GBU’s…both can’t be used vs Pantsir presence. It lacks any standoff weapon to be viable in Ground Forces.
Ingame Suchoi’s are far, far better at the same BR of 11.3. Its not exactly fair, since they don’t have to worry about the Pantsir issue and have crazy loadout options. Imho when the Tornado striker is at 11.3, the Suchois should be 12.0.
In practical engagement in War Thunder, considering subsonic aircraft, the performance of these missiles is as follows:
The R-60M has a range of 2,000 meters, an explosive yield of 1.35 kg, and a maximum guidance time of 25 seconds.
The AIM-9L Sidewinder has a range of 4,000 meters, an explosive yield of 4.06 kg, and a maximum guidance time of 60 seconds.
Based on this comparison, it appears that an aircraft, which can be likened to a flying truck, is equipped with one of the least effective missiles, providing no chance of success in uptier (which are encountered frequently). However, I acknowledge that the R-60MK variant mounted on the MiG-29 could be effective due to the high speed and maneuverability of the aircraft, enabling it to operate at Mach+.
Additionally, the Su-39 is a Su-25TM specifically designed for air-to-air combat.
The main reason for implementing the designation of Su-39 instead of Su-25TM is that the Su-39 is capable of carrying the R77, R27, and R73 missiles. Without these missiles, the Su-39 is same as the Su-25TM.
It’s always the Russian players that ask for the most idiotic and clearly imbalanced additions to the game despite their constant handholding.
If you’re unhappy with the current state of the air to air loadout of the Su-39, you should’ve thought about that before giving gaijin 90$. Its clearly had its loadout limited for balance purposes, and the fact were still wasting time on this argument is frankly dumb.
You ppl just want the shiny new premium you bought to be an OP mixed attacker, which is the LAST thing WT needs right now considering how dominant Russia and more specifically Russian CAS is and has been in mixed battles at top tier.
@MythicPi I am from Poland and I would like to enjoy everything in War Thunder. I bought the Su-39 because this plane has a nice camouflage in pre-order. I know that it’s just a matter of time before the Su-39 will receive the R77, R27, and R73 missiles. By starting this conversation, I simply want to expedite the process and make it happen in the near future instead of years down the line.
As far as I know, it is not a Russian vehicle player that makes documents available as an example of aim120 and still asking for it, so I think this is feasible if you compare your comparison
afaik, the discussions had on the old forums regarding the AIM-120 were largely not around the topic of adding it immediately, but just discussing performance and sharing documentation so that one day when added it could be done properly and efficiently. Afaik its always the Russian players asking for the most obviously unbalanced additions. The only real consistent exception to this is players asking for the hellfire L’s with F&F, which I also disagree with for balance reasons.
I don’t ask for missiles that are very unbalanced, just one better than the r60m because with these missiles it’s even difficult to defend yourself against other vehicles that are superior to it
Designed with the versatility to be used to hunt bandits is a shit reason and doesnt matter , the Puma IFV was design in mind with anti aircraft capability in the mean time its anti aircraft ammo the Ahead doesnt work is shit and doesnt automaticaly programm like it should. Some vehicles just get shafted life with it.
