TIALD 400 Pod on all British aircraft is only Gen 1. Depsite there being an option for a Gen 1.5 (not true gen 2, but not far off) option available in the form of the TIALD 500. Or the Gen 3 pods like SNIPER.
and the litening II is only currently Gen 1 in game despite being Gen 2 IRL (I think that is being fixed)
Litening II is gen 2 on some plan es like F-16C but appears to still be gen 1 on Tornado IDS ASSTA1 (idk about others since I dont have them)

Ah that’ll be it then. As it was the Tornado that was being discussed. Just assumed it was all and that Gaijin would just straight C&P the same T-Pod over to different aircraft. So that is kinda funny they went out of the way to give Germany a nerfed version

That’s certainly true, but it’s also worth remembering that these pods still have good 'look around ’ capabilities, while the Khod pod can only see forward, just like the targeting pods on the A-7. In that sense it’s still inferior, also it’s probably gonna be at a high battle rating, where other planes have far better pods. Hell the JH-7A is gonna eat the Mig -27K’s lunch, with it’s ability to carry 4XKh-29’s and a nice gen 2 targeting pod(confirmed next update)
Unfortunately. This is one area where the Soviet will always be inferior. Air superiority was never their battle plan. Even now in Ukraine, air power is not something they’ve exploited (even though they could have) I think in WT, Soviets will always have the weakest Jet based CAS power. Though that is made up for in having the best Helis in the game and some of the strongest SPAA.
Their are some possibilities, but they seem to all be a ways into the future. As people have pointed out with the SMT, it can theoretically carry a modern Russian Gen 3 targeting pod, and so can some other jets in the Russian air force like the Su-30/35 and Mig-35. Outside of that tho, the Russians will be limited compaired to the west. Even the Su-34 only has a Mig-27K style camera
It’s too costly for russia to put such a risk on their airforce numbers. They cannot recover as easy as they can on their ground forces. People think this is like iraq when it’s clearly not, much closer to vietnam if anything
Yeah, though as no Gen 3 pods are in game yet, that would be an unfair advantage I think. Personally I reckon we’ll see Gen 3s on aircraft like the Harrier Gr9A for Britain but at significantly higher BR, like 12.7.
Yeah I suspect they might be waiting for such aircraft like the Su-30/35 to add these GEN 3 pods
Hopefully the MiG-29SMT is given the PDLCT along with its laser guided weapons that’s its missing.
We’ll see, kinda weird that they F-16C is absolutely cracked but the SMT is a bit underwhelming despite its real life capabilities…
It might simply be that the F-16C could just get weapons and equipment already found in game and the SMT would need new stuff (at least that is what I assume)
Probably part of it. Gajjin is always a bit slow to creat new weapons or targeting pods

Then I guess that is what they are working on . In any form. Maybe even waiting till a point in which a More advanced Tpod can be added without it being a massively unfair advantage. It is why im suspecting the next soviet aircraft addition will be something like a late Su-24. Something to match the CAS capabilities of the Tornado.
The Su-24 would still lack good optics tho ofc. Only having a camera similar to that found on the Mig-27K
