These ideas are not new. People have advocated for F-4F ICE and Tornado F3 getting Fox-3s before everyone else due to their sucky platform. People have advocated for F-4F ICE to get IRIS-T before anyone else gets IIR missiles.
Gaijin simply refuses to allow for anyone to get missiles ahead of everyone else.
There are many people who still play the F-15 and F-18 over the Eurofighter, so I guess there’s plenty of reasons including the history behind those planes. Statshark shows that even the German F-18 is more played than the German Eurofighter.
my most played jet
So you forgot to mention that these same people have never touched the SU-30SM, and if they did, they would have absolutely horrible stats, to be honest.
Probably only because theres more US players than german ones
Are you sure that you compared the right versions of both? Because i cant find a month where the F18 has more games than the EFT.
The premium 12.7 one is more popular but thats hardly a fair comparison
My God, how is this not considered OP? You get less G-force in turns, but more range, while the R77-1 doesn’t even reach 6km without completely exhausting its energy.
Right but after a year, you would think that if “there’s no reason to play the F-15 and F-18 over the Eurofighter” then the player base would have adjusted already, but that’s not the case. US players are still loyal to their planes due to potentially their love for it.
Maybe but i think that people on this forum also like to overestimate the average war thunder players willingness to grind multiple tech trees to top tier. Im pretty sure that theres just a decent amount of poor blokes playing the F15/F18, because thats the best they have
Sure, it’s very powerful, but the missile is just a slow, unpowered flying brick; it wouldn’t even hit a MiG-15, but according to some, it could hit a jet traveling at over 1500 km/h while making turns.
to be fair the trajectory of these missiles aren’t optimized for these kind of shots, as it would be more beneficial to turn hard while the booster is active, and then relax its turning until its closer to the target, rather than the simple time to gain pull tables that we have for missiles that makes missiles pull softly until its closer to the target
Therefore, it will only be useful in certain situations and in close-quarters combat with the AIM-120, having a bit more range. The only advantage is that everyone, without exception, will be able to guide missiles while defending. It will still be much smarter to turn, fire, and return to the notch position than to launch the missile with a low chance of hitting. And about the R27ER, well, dying to it while the RWR screams since its launch is sad.
