how would that work on the game ? lock and launch and turn off lock ? or more like select fire like a normal fox 3 but if its out the radar its lose lock
idk. i would think you would be able to fire em in tws and then if you fire more than 2 at once, then the first er loses tracking and then so on
yeah that the only i can think off
except if gaijin will require hard lock first before firing
This is the case for most ER platforms, not just the SM2.
no its not.
What er platform other than ones using irbis are able to guide more than 2 SARH at once IRL
Is it not? Ive heard people mention it about the 27sm a few times?
no ? you need hard lock for the missile to kill. yes it can guided itself to the last lost lock position.
no thats for arh missiles.
@ron_23 has a good explanation for this (form german radar manuals), the radars were originally designed to do this, but due to limitations in ram, it wasn’t able to do it.
check the comments he linked in this post
Huh, couldve sworn ive seen people say it about the 27sm…
Anyways uhh, i dunno lemme mess around in user missions, i dunno if this is actually possible or not in game atm.
well it uses n001vep radar. and that radar isn’t able to fire more than 2 arh at once lol, so i doubt it can with 27ers
They use the excuse that “oh simultaneously attack surely means it can with ers”

n001VEP page (radar used on su-30mk2 and su-27sm)
It’s most likely with arh missiles only
Remove (don’t have toptier) from Don’t Care.
Can’t wait for the ppl complaining abt the radar to fight a Jas-39E with the same thing
Spoiler
They don’t complain because it’s not Russian.
Gripen do same thing and nobody is complaining, MatAWG video
Gripen is currently locked to AMRAAMs with poor off boresight performance, if it gets MICAs then it will be extremely powerful, but currently the Su-30SM2 is doing it better because of superior turn performance missiles
Yes, it’s useless above 6km, as MatAWG tested in his video. The missile will lose all its energy on that turn; all it takes is for the enemy player to have an IQ higher than the ambient temperature and turn.
Mattawg is a cretin I don’t trust anything he says, not to mention it can also be done with ERs
R-77-1 has the same notch parameters as Aim-120. Most viable missile kills are launched at basically point blank range already and multiple planes being able to notch and track missiles means that in all likelihood that engagements will become even closer range.
There will be a middle range where the Su-30 can defend itself better and then lose at closer ranges. If the HMD change goes through then in visual range fight, it will have to turn in to launch. Most players are not going to constantly fidget with radar.
Eurofighter will also have radar with beyond 90 gimbal limit but is limited in HOBS capability so it also has to turn in and turn out. It can also do it faster and with less energy bleed. On top of that, from what I am seeing, it has the ability to perpetually scan it’s entire field of view…whereas Su-30 is a steerable 60 degree cone.
My opinion is to wait and see what happens. The same people that were coping about Su-30 destroying the game and outclassing everything because of large missile load are the same people coping about this one too.
The only planes really getting the short end of the stick are everyone with non-steerable AESA radar and those without turbo-charged flight models like Rafale / Eurofighter.
Eurofighter can do as well, lauch missile, turn 90 degrees and guide the missile and defend itself, Su30SM2 It should stay as it is, there’s nothing to complain about, for me this is already closed.
I don’t think the Su-30SM2 needs nerfs, just that some other vehicles need adjustments to be competitive at the same BRs (namely the gripen E and whatever dogshit the U.S. has going on)
