Funny statement considering the VKS has been flying in a nearly completely uncontested airspace aircraft-wise for the last 2+ years, only having to worry about GBAD, while the UA pilots have been flying vs both Russian GBAD and the VKS’ qualitative and quantitative superiority.
The most experienced pilots combat-wise are likely the ukrainians at this point, not the Russians, and afaik, all ukrainian pilots selected for F-16 conversion training were already experienced MiG-29/Su-27 pilots.
I don’t know, seem like the same situation where American pilot fought with sandal warriors.
At least Russian faces real AA threat and shot down by real heavy AA system.
By that logic the Iraqi pilots were better than the coalition ones.
UA have done ok, they haven’t excelled and giving them an F-16 which is completely different from what they are used to flying is not going to leverage an advantage. Against an adversary that is flying 100s of sorties a day.
No NATO instructor has ever had to defend from a BVR missile. Like the famous quote the German Leopard instructor used when questioned what do we do if we come across a minefield?..You just go round it.
Sure believe what you want, did you scrutinise US kill claims in the Gulf.
Did you get live Radar track of US kills or even images to prove they were shot down?
No of course not, this Jet shot something that was moving fast note the closure rate
Yellow markers denote 50km range at 100km the missile is released and then we see both tracks are gone. Either the aircraft was destroyed or it crashed while defending, Either way its a kill.
Iraqui pilots barely suevived the first night, tf do you mean. You cant be so mentally defficient you cant see the difference between pilots from a nation fighting against a qualitatively and quantitavely superior enmy for 2+ years to those from an air force that barely lasted 1 night.
The UA pilots selected have had tons of experience defneding against those exact BVR missiles, they’ll just have better tech now. And the F-16’s arent being sent for air superiority, you’d have to be daft to think thats the goal. Theyre being sent as it simplifies transfer and supply of weapons due to not having to try to integrate modern NATO weapons into airframes with 1980-1990’s soviet hardware/software, and because the F-16’s can better use certain NATO tech, such as the HARM’s being used in ukraine that are currently gimped by the obsolete electronics of the soviet planes. F-16’s can also perform specialized missions like SEAD which Russia/Ukraine both can barely do in the first place.
But excersises like Red Flag and many others create realistic simulations of fights. Its the best NATO can do. without launching speacial military operations of their own
Well different is US establish air superiority over Iraq in day one and Iraq are in better shape than Ukraine during that time compare to Ukraine at start of the war.
Russia can’t establish air superiority over Ukraine for almost three years and still can’t.
Big difference in level of competency if you ask me.
