First off, the US wasn’t even considered as a supplier for the 140mm. Germany could’ve supplied it (Rheinmetall was working on a 140mm for the Leo 2) had the Swedish military not felt rushed for a new MBT, as that is what lead to them purchasing the Leo 2.
They already had the engine (multiple options actually) and there was very, very little else they needed, all of which could’ve easily been made domestically.
Just because Sweden wasn’t in NATO doesn’t mean they weren’t allied with NATO countries. In fact, Sweden had very good relations with Germany, and were aware of many of their projects because Swedish companies and specialists assisted with German development and testing of projects like the 140mm.
No, they decided that purchasing a foreign MBT was a better use of funding than continuing the development of the 2000, and the time it would’ve taken to begin production would leave Sweden behind in armoured forces for too long.
Again what Sweden wouldn’t of had access too considering the 140mm programs were highly classified and they weren’t in NATO so the sharing of such classified things would be limited/never happening
The main option was the mtu 883 what Sweden didn’t get until the 2a4 stop gap it’s possible that it would be sold for that
What? The only other company that helped in the German 140mm development was a joint program of the UK(left shortly after) the USA and France. There was no swedish development or assistance

I doubt Sweden will get the Strv 123B before the Strv 123A

True, but the Strv 123A does, so it should come at around the same time, or before if gaijingle-jangle wants to let Germany have the 2a8 to themselves for a bit

The most likely is you guys getting the norwegian 2a8, and nothing else for quite a while. No Strv123 variant.

You guys getting the A, B and likely norwegian 2a8 quickly after another is just to unlikely.
Next best step is the 2a8. The Strv123A is likely to just get ignored for a while
Adding to that all Strv getting DM53 now is bulll…
