Strv 123A incoming to Swedish military!

Not at all, some users on Swedish military forums are quite upset about it x)
Although it would be an easier upgrade to integrate if they want to in the future.

Honestly, we might see huge leaps in active protection systems in the near future due to the drone developments in recent years.

Interesting so far I have though that Trophy was installed on the 2A8 as standard but it seems like it’s optional then

The newer Leopard 2 models is very modular and easy to install new things on, so guess things like Trophy can be installed later on.
It’s bizarre the Swedes didn’t order it to begin with though, Ukraine show it’s needed.

Unless they are working on a new system of their own at the moment

That or they have deemed the current system not capable enough and are waiting for alternatives currently in development. It honestly wouldn’t be completely out of the question with a laser based APS system at this point.

The current systems have a hard time on stuff like RPGs being shot from above and top-down missiles.
They also get tricked by radiowaves and clutter from nearby vehicles, so it has it’s limitations.
I remember reading the swedes making a APS system, but think that was for another nation (Brazil?, just think it was a Gripen operator as well.

With the very good Swedish defence industry that likes to make their own stuff i’d say they will have a APS on their new tanks

Edit: Sweden makes a system for South Africa, don’t use it themself.
They have ordered the Israeli Iron Fist for thr CV-90s

It is standard. The image shows the 123A, not the 2A8 (123B).

They might be the same if i understood this correctly:

They say “Beställningen omfattar också renovering och uppgradering av 66 stycken Stridsvagn 122 till samma standard som de nya vagnarna.” which translates to “The order also includes a renovation and upgrade of 66 strv122 to the same standard as the new vehicles”, where i’m curious about the “same standard” part.
So they might actually be almost (if not completely) identical in configuration. But time will tell :)

well and once again sweden just chooses to go with the german solution isntead of developing their own stuff xD
And here gajin still thinks the 2a7v is somehow worse then strv122s when sweden literaly goes back to germany to buy them …

btw since someone liked that, that altered realy well…

still sweden at this point is quite behind in the order pull, questionable when they receive it
honestly still think germany should receive the 2a8 before sweden in this game.
Sweden god away with those shenanigans in the game for way to long and still is

is the modern strv series based on the Leopard 2 they have a similar turret shape to me, and I’m not too familiar with variants of anything that’s not American

strv122 still is completly german, just another naming system they altered to fit their own
they built it themself under a license, but completly developed by germany.
They just switched some stuff to their own versions like intercom systems etc

ahhhh ok thanks

Pluss more armor, somewhat many german mains have a issue with for some reason

well the strv122b plss funny sight is completly sweden own product if i remember right

ALL strv from 121 forward are all leopard 2 variants. the 121 is from the starta a 2A4, the 122 is a mix with the armor from the 2A7 and the older gun from 2A4 (when Germany upgraded the gun Sweden instead chose to upgrade the armor). the 123 is essentially going to be a 2A8.

the armor still is german developed
germany just didnt adopt them themself until later

Still not used on the german models

so 2a6ex, 2a7v leopard 2 tvm and tvm 2 just dont exist at all ok

Where did i say that?
Models in use by Germany don’t have the extra armor, the swedish welded that on themself

2a7v, 2a7a1 does as well, 2a6a3 all in service

all models listed by that user have that extra armor. Its just a difference in order of implementation, the Germans upgraded the gun first but the Swedes chose the armor instead. but the Germans have installed the same (if not even newer) armor on their latest variants that are in service. The Swedes won’t upgrade their gun until the now soon incoming 123A and 123B.
