Honest question: Why are attack drones (ex: MQ-1 or Orion) still available? In their current state they’re nothing more than an accidental SP waste at best and an RP piñata at worst. Am I missing something, or are they really this bad currently?

They definitely should be removed or replaced with drones like the Sukhoi S-70, X-47B and GJ-11 that might actually stand a chance against spaa with stealth and a flight performance better than a kite…
It will depend on how and which battle rating do you use them. I spawn them anyways. I take a quick look in the enemies’ spawn, if I don’t see a anti-air system about to engage I just look for another ground target.
If they do have an anti-air vehicle actively engaging the drone if I spot in time I just leave not giving out credits, regardless if you manage to reach engaging range, quickly take the two destroyed targets. Using the laser designator tool in the map is helpful to find targets easily.
