Strela problems

How come that Strela doesnt have IRCCM and still those missiles cannot be flared…

It’s because the missile has contrast modes which can act as a sort of IRCCM.

what do you mean? remember gaijin released a trailer where a ah 64d flared a strela missile! surely that trailer is true to how warthunder is played!

The IR lock range of the Strela is so bad the majority are Contrast Image lock launches which can’t be flared

As others have said, the contrast mode cant be flared.

The IR also cant be flared if it fired in rear-aspect and allowed to get within about 2km.

Which means it should be flared when flying behind a cluttered background or at low altitude, yet that doesnt do anyhting to stop it from tracking, hell it even tracks through clouds

Flares have zero affect on the optical lock. Terrain will cause the optical lock to fail but it wont affect an IR lock.

This is why the missile is good. Both locks require very different methods to defeat but you dont really know which one it is using in most cases.

I meant even when flaring and going behind the backdrop of terrain or flaring while going through clouds, the missile still doesnt give a shit, It acts exactly as any other manpads in game with undefeatable irccm

I tested it with another player and he was able to flare it no problem. Only time he couldnt was when it was rear aspect and he let it get within around 2-2.5km.

For optical, i couldnt even lock him if the ground was even near the seeker.

As for clouds, once any missile is fired, it basically ignores clouds in my experience.

It’s still very flarable, just requires a bit more effort.
