Strela, Pantsir and SU-25 issue

Yeah man. Last drivers turned off my VSYNC, turned on NVIDIA latency by itself. I run game and it’s lagging like crazy despite having stable 144FPS :D

Yeah it seemed odd given I can run much more graphically intense games at good settings with a decent FPS.

He’s talking about the tracking radar, which is fact is almost unusable when more than 1 object gets tracked. It’s bugged to hell, tracks flares with radar mode on, a slight rocket spam will bring 100 more targets, firing 1 maverick can throw it off. All of this in manual mode btw, automatic doesn’t even work

Su25 have to fly within Spaa zone. Before the manpads buff they were almost unkillable, now not anymore. This tactic is still very effect when you have atleast 3 su25 doing, so they overwelm defenses (works with most cas really)

I’d rather have a radar than no radar however, when things are launching missiles and bombs at you from 10-20km away.

Hey there folks, being an active Pantsir player and involved in a similar thread involving the Pantsir I’d like to give my two cents on the situation.

Whilst it is true that the K-Band TRACKING radar leaves you with little warning about any incoming interceptors you must remember it’s operating a 83° F band search radar which can be detected by a massive array of fighters/strike aircraft.

There are some short comings that I encounter with using the Pantsir in both ground RB and custom.

  1. It’s tracking radar likes to freak out a lot when trying to intercept aircraft at heights of 6km or more at a angle of about 70° ish degrees which results in me removing the automated tracking of the missile and going back to manual SACLOS guidance which if you remember from the sky guardians nerf pretty much made accurately predicting and correcting your interception path “almost” impossible which usual results in either the missile shaking side to side to the point it outright misses or flies off screen.

Secondly when faced with aircraft doing what is essentially a “Tuck and roll” after launching a volley of unguided bombs using their bombing computer I usually abandon intercepting the aircraft and focus on intercepting the inbound enemy munitions while informing my squadron on their rough trajectory with at least a handful heading directly to my location. The same applies with dealing with those pesky heli bastards who launch fire and forget ATGMs then hide behind a hill for dear life which are usually much easier to intercept with my missiles but leaves me vulnerable to further fighter attacks later on if I’m not constantly restocking missiles on a CAP point.

Pantsir’s aren’t unkillable, but when faced against them you need to actually pay attention since the stakes are against you. My friend who has never played top tier has experienced using my own Pantsir before and even then he’s killed absolute idiots who fly in Straight lines.

Genuinely, stop it I know you cas players love bombing shit but do not complain if you died due to flying in a straight line if you detect a pantsir’s search radar pings which show up as S-1 it’s probably a good sign NOT to keep flying in a straight line because more than likely they see you and you most certainly have a interceptor screaming towards you without pinging your MAWs due to the tracking radar being K-Band as previously mentioned. This act of flying straight can be attributed to pre-sky guardians and pre-SACLOS nerf when I killed on average 6-8 enemy CAS using Roland 3s of all things due to your own actions of flying mindlessly straight. I’ll be honest with you and straight to the point. Fly about 45-90° away from a Pantsir to increase your chances on not being immediately shot down then sending a racial slur at myself and other Pantsir players for using what is in your mind “a broken vehicle” is it stronger than some of its other competitors in certain cases for example being the king of multi tasking due to its ability to assign 3 automatically guided missiles and a 4th manually guided one in relation to the TOR’s two it’s got pretty poor concealment and poor steering due to its massive size meaning any missile that I and others fail to intercept have a massive chance at killing the Pantsir.

In regards to other things, the Pantsir’s missiles might be lacking in turning capability being a 30g missile it benefits off the extended range and larger capacity of missiles being 12 in total

A. The TOR-M1 42g missiles

B. VT-1s 50g

C. Any other missile that can send out missiles with better turning than 30gs

To note, Pantsir can’t use its auto tracking feature built into it’s missiles if it’s using IRST so in order to actively hunt you cas players down it has to reveal its search radar in normal mode rather than the more stealthy IRST.

That is all, whilst cas is incredibly frustrating to deal with due to you lot having better overall control of the battle field and essentially being untouchable for a large duration of that, the Pantsir and other capable SAM’s are there to keep you all in check rather than giving you all a free pass to get 10x kills using no skill bombs so just remember that

The only missile SPAA in the game that you can flare is the US Chaparral everything’s else has advanced IRCCM or is SACLOS guided do you even play the game?

Do u not know what pre-flaring is? and yes it works for all missile except type 93 and strella.

Thats quite literally a skill issue on your part Mavericks have LOAL capability so firing them against SPAA sitting in spawn can be done out to 20km

lol no way u just said A10’s Mavericks can reliably get a lock and fire from 20km, let alone 10km. Did you even play A10? Judging by the footage, you just test drive the premium A10 and did have played a single ground realistic with it.

if you cant see out to 10km with that level of zoom you need to get your eyes checked its not like the Su-25 where you have 0 zoom and have to manually guide the missiles

Enemy tanks doesn’t even render in past ~10km. Also stop using the su25 laser guided rocket as your argument already? Yea it’s shitty and everyone knows that, if you are still using it then don’t complain.

I do that’s why i dont die to light tanks like the 2s38

yea enjoy deaths from ammo explosion because blowout panels does not work if you have HEAT or HE shells

Guess people usually spawn bad vehicles.

I wonder who can counter this

On pansir radar case, I’m not sure if you really want. The search radar is insane though. But to this day, and I keep saying it even here, If you are 80 degrees above the pansir it can’t do anything to you 9/10 times. Can’t even track and the missile keeps wobbling around

This is actually very bad, people really do spawn this too much and then they proceed to get overrun by enemy MBTs. I have lost guaranteed wins because there would be 5 pansirs sitting on spawn

Same with strela when it was busted (lower br)

Most SPAA stop below 20 if not 30 degrees radar coverage, the Pantsir operates at more than triple the radar coverage so some limitations aren’t really an issue.

It has 8 second search speed so it is slower than even the ZSU-23-4

no it doesn’t lol

wdym “no it doesn’t” yes it does, it prevent missile to lock onto u

you genuinely claiming the S25 are better than mavericks considering one forces you to be within 3km of the SPAA and the other is standoff

yea its way better, like I said just pre flare and enemy AA can’t even get a lock unless its Roland or something but you can easily dodge those. 3km is more than close enough to accurately throw a S-250 rocket at an AA and light tank to guarantee a kill because of how much explosive the rocket has.
Talk to me when you stop reading the stat card and actually have played the vehicle lmao

Stingers have digital IRCCM they cannot see flares at all same as all MANPADS in game

I own and have played all techtree Su-25 the base su-25 is definitely worse than the A-10 and i know most people will agree with this the only way the 25 can be better is if the enemy has literally no SPAA at 3km there’s not a single SPAA that wont kill you

The later variant(s) & MIM-72G don’t benefit from the contrast lock on range extension mechanic that they should.

Yeah thats still an issue but pretty much everyone knows its impossible to flare them unless you’re using the Su-25T or Su-39 with IRCM

Funny how i can kill a pantsir with a subsonic harrier, but US mains with F16’s can’t.

strela is not a MANPAD. You are comparing apples to strawberries

Funny how USSR could’ve gotten TOR-M2 and similiar cas vehicle instead of Pantsir and Su-25M3, but hey USSR must have tech advantage.
