Storm Warning - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

gaijin would have the opportunity to make event vehicles more unique by giving them their real weapons, like the F100F and “AGM-45 Shrike”

If gaijin were to give all vehicles their actual weapons then the game would be extremely boring and not fun at all… Things need to be balanced.

But as far as I’m concerned I couldn’t care less about getting a HQ-17, I’d have yo grind the whole Chinese ground tree to even notice because I don’t play ground. If anything the HQ-17 is better for you who play ground as it’s a potential ally against Russian air superiority in ground battles regardless of your own nation.

This tbh. It’s been ages. And I WANT MOAR

at least Chinese air isn’t stuck with just the J-11A anymore, but yeah sad no J-10A late, surely gaijin called the current one “early” for a reason

No, the HQ17’s biggest upgrade over the tor-m1 is the addition of thermal imaging. The 885M/S missile speed is a pitiful increase compared to 850M/S. The additional 3KM range also relies on longer guidance times to glide further. At that extra 3KM, you’re flying a subsonic AIM9B, which is almost impossible to hit a maneuvering target with. HQ17 is not worth 41W Research.

I was hoping for J-10B this update…

Biggest flaw with the HQ-17 is that its a TOR lmao. The minimum engagement distance is brutal…

or J15 since su33 is being added as well

Right, but now you’re doing exactly what you just said i was doing, in deciding what constitutes a worthwhile addition to the update, based on your own preferences lol.

Someone who only plays Air will be upset no J10 / J11 and only HQ17. Someone who only plays ground will be happy with HQ17 and not really care about no J10 / J11. But for someone who plays both, Getting a new SPAA in an era of WT where CAS is oppressive can only be a net good thing.

It’s still going to be better than anything 8 other countries have access to, and that’s nothing to scoff at. I do think it should be foldered beneath Tor to reduce that RP cost though.

I was saving modification RP bonuses for this update but i guess i wont be needing them 😔

HQ-17 is in great need of reinforcement, it’s definitely not alarmist, and I’m going to tell you how HQ-17 compares to other SPAAs, so you know how bad this new thing is.

Again, It is testbed aircraft.

I play both. The HQ-17 is a horrible addition especially since its a new vehicle requiring 400k rp to get…

Yes, the missile cannot perform its 42G overload for some time after launch, and it takes time for the missile to reach the center of the scope.

No, I’m stating what I consider worthwhile, I’m not saying you should be happy about it, I did state it has more of an impact on you than me which is just a fact though.

Like I said, you can’t tell someone they had a good update, I never said you had a good update, just that the HQ-17 doesn’t matter to Chinese air and therefore is not a good update.

Though if you like I can put it in very simple terms for you, Israeli ground got 1 thing, Chinese air got 0 things, therefore objectively speaking this update was better for you

For a 6km target
TOR-M1:8.78s
HQ-17:8.70s
VT1:6.54s
ADTAS:7.5s
Panstir:5.78s

See, there are no changes in the HQ-17 compared to the TOR! It’s just another TOR!

Literally going to be the second best SPAA in the game, but aight.
