That doesn’t make it more advanced. The two aircraft were designed with different operational requirements.
Britain only expected to be able to afford like 3 Vulcans so they had to work harder to make sure they got through. The US expected to be able to field hundreds of B-52s and so range and payload were focused on.
Yeah, but only because no one else really operates strategic bombers anymore
A few the UK was assigned to deal with, a few the US were trying and failing to deal with so the UK came in to help. Including a few raids where they did so alone to try and surprise the Iraqi defenders, which was semi-succesful.
The Fact the BUFF is still in service is insane to me.
US, Russia, China
Russia just has them as a vestige of Soviet Union lol
I like this.
What is certain is that it will be a very intense week.
I expect every UK mains to cry tears of joy, and every Rafale fanboys like me to get mad if the EF2000 gets 1 second more screen time than the Rafale lol
Exactly, strategic bombers are more a show of force than actually militarily advantageous at this point
You can only use them once you have total air superiority and by that point what real need is there.
B-2/21 aside of course, as they can operate within hostile air space
They are capable of carry stupid amounts of the largest a2g weapons in our inventory
For reference, a B-1B can carry 24 JASSM-ER, which outrange every SAM system on the planet by a pretty huge margin. It can fire and turn back before any jets scrambled can get within like 500km
I couldn’t understand you, sorry. English is not my mother language.
Spoiler
The Spanish should have decapitated their kings in the 17th century. Then invented liberalism and capitalism. Then won at Trafalgar and expanded their booming industry, with their culture, to the whole world. That way, today we would speak Spanish and I could understand you better lol (damn lazy Spanish bourgeois)
Eh, I don’t expect mutch of anything.
None of the rumored vehicles interest me(maybe the SPAA but that top tier and I hate top tier), and what’s been announced I don’t care about.
So if there is an addition I’m fully excited for I’d be surprised.
As far as I can gather, there is not multiple ‘variants’ or a ‘late’ version of Ra’am, it’s just one aircraft that gets its avionics switched out based on mission need.
I really do not want a Ra’am ‘Late’ either. Just retroactively upgrade our current one in future as the meta permits. 420k RP to research… 320k RP to spade… 1.43m RP to ace… I ain’t doin all that again just for a different radar, and I especially don’t want to see more advanced Python / Derby locked behind it in future either.
But, with all of the above said, we don’t need a new aircraft anytime soon. F-15I is top dog rn, we eating good, and it will remain competitive for a while to come yet. If it ever starts to struggle in future then can consider giving it Python 4 and the likes.
What we need more than anything is not new planes, it’s domestic A2G (Popeye, Spice, Lizard etc) modeled and added to what we already have.
Yep, and we have hands down the coolest looking ones
A group of F-16s or F-15s can perform the same feat though, all the while they escort themselves and can perform a whole myriad of other tasks aside from that.
I’m not saying strategic bombers don’t have use cases but those use cases can usually be fulfilled by other far more versatile aircraft,
Efficiency is irrelevant. Its about the flex.
That’s what I said, they’re a show of force
The incident that gets mentioned most often is something along these lines:
Some sort of runway needed destroying, F-18s attempted 3 sorties but were shot down and also failed to destroy the runway. The Brits couldn’t move into the region they wanted to due to threats posed by aircraft taking off from that runway, so they took it upon themselves to just take the runway out themselves, they accomplished it first time though they did suffer loses, I wanna say 3 out of 7 jets they sent were lost.
Something along those lines. Personally I hate the Tornado but I can’t reasonably say it is bad at what it was designed to do.
They have their purpose. Show of force is a large part of it but operating times and range is huge with them.
It can carry 20 AGM-86 (nukes big kaboom), which each have a range exceeding 1500 miles
To be honest, I don’t expect anything either. But for some strange reason, I’m a masochist.
Nothing about the list interests me, and seeing the tons of Thai pasta that will arrive, there’s not much hope left really.
Still, I’m a masochist with a conscience lol
The skin trophy excites me more.
