Storm Warning - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

nah thats literally how they designed it, its hard for me to even think they intended it to compete, but they do claim SU57 is the most advanced 5th gen…which is just

The MiG-35 is the more interesting situation to me, as it’s just an upgraded MiG-29, yet barely any have been made.

yh if that

Ka-60 in development since 40 years but only 2 prototypes built so far

they just build prototypes to seem interesting while no nation is impressed and russians couldnt care less

Gotta love these tech-demo photos

Everyone says their jet is the best, its nothing new. Why is Russia suddenly the odd one for saying this?

ok

Um okay, here’s the zuhai airshow 2024

Not really, we can both see each other given it’s around 25-30 km engagement range, but PL12 glitches so much that by the time it gets to 30km, it is pretty much swinging 11 to 2.

Which is a pre serial production model again lol

cheap

Really the PL-12 should be somewhere between AIM-120C-1 and C-5 level, however.

Ka-60 doesnt have a definitive place in the doctrine for Russian military. Rapid heliborne deployment - too little to carry; armed recon - drones can do that; MEDEVAC - Mi-8 can do that, command or VIP transport - not neccessary; ASW - Ka-27/29 can do that. Kamov also isnt a huge company they gotta manage producing ka-27/29 and ka-52s already.

prototype vs production (much smoother)

100% and its been like that for 15 years

russia cant even have a 5th gen jet after ~25 years that US made one lol

Yeah, my other fear is that J10B will still get AL31FN, but Gaijing does the weight straight to 9750kg, so that it is much worse in manoeuvrability.

T-50-4, not the finished T-50-7 prototype as well. The pilot flew from Taiyuan some good distance away without a G-suit and mask as well, quite the feat.
