PL-9 is a missile that was only really used by the ground forces as air defense. PLAAF itself didn’t use it much and it was more frequently exported to other countries such as Nigeria for their JF-17s.
PL-8B was still the main missile for the PLAAF until the PL-10 came out.
But even today PL-8B is used occasionally.

The closest thing to a “radar guided” IRIS-T are some ground launched ones, like for example the SLX, which has an IR and radar seeker.
9C is an air-to-air variant though.
I think Gaijin might’ve been trying to see if it could be added on J-10A or JF-17, but then abandoned it. That’s my only explanation.

J-10B would be inbetween the two.
