Steam Discussion Rules Are Unclear

The rules applied to the Steam Community are unclear. I have been warned twice in three years for necroposting, a rule that does not show up at all on the Steam Community forums. When you are warned there you only get a link to the Steam rules, which does not include Gaijin’s rules, and thus not necroposting.

I am one warning away from a ban because I didn’t know this was a rule there, the warnings never go away, and you cannot appeal them to Steam support. There is no easy way to appeal them, either. Again, one of them is three years old at this point, it’s absurd.

It’s also kind of absurd given that the posts there often are left open for years, which seems to lead to people getting warned for necroposting without any actual knowledge of this being a rule.

I believe, because of the nature of how the Steam discussions work, there should not be a warn for necroposting and instead the mods should just lock it. Warning (and eventual banning) seems too far harsh for just partaking in discussion, even if old. Especially because this rule IS NOT CLEAR.

If you have questions about steam moderation the contact those moderators via private message here on the forum. You can find all the teams and the areas they handle listed here: (Who is who and Reporting Procedure). If you don’t get an answer within a few days you can add more moderators from the list to the original message instead of sending a new message (that way you preserve the date of the message and it doesn’t look like a new request), adding one of the moderators to the message every 2-3 days or so until you get an answer.

Please do not to add the seniors until you have tried all other regular moderators, the Seniors likely won’t answer unless they are added and pinged by the regular moderators but if you’ve added all the regular moderators with no answer then you can add the seniors.
