If the WW2 iowa is that OP then I how deadly the upgraded version gonna be.
That will be painful unless they increase the rewards too. Naval rewards are currently really low; SL is good…but RP is terrible.
10 hours to get within range in naval maps size is fine naval engagements typically happen within 8 miles never as its hard to hit a moving target accurately
this would just amplify current problems instead of making maps larger they should rework maps with more cover as just straight up long range shooting is not fun if you make a map have more cover you can use posistioning and tatics while long range is just whoever has better boat
Yeah, you need to use the controls for “Distance Correction”.
Easiest/best way to set is to use the mouse wheel in the Naval Control settings:
Also, the distance will reset/set to “zero” when you click/select the target again (not ideal, but it does pull it back to the target’s current distance easily).
Whatever you have this keybind set to. This one is in the “Common” section, is used for all modes:

Coastal is dead in the water
badum tss
they cant even balance real boats why do we have fantasy ones ?
I’ll play naval when my missile boats get missiles or submarines are added
I don’t care if my submarine goes 15kph underwater in a 15x15km map
I don’t care if my missile can’t even penetrate the armor of a light cruiser
I want to larp
[Everyone] who says this wouldn’t play even if they were added.
And it’d be the most boring, mind numbing garbage imaginable. Have you seen how SAMs are implemented? Imagine that but boats.
That’s how it’d be implemented and it’d be top level garbage.
No there wouldn’t. All the people who want the modern stuff would have to deal with being seal clubbed since they’re stuck in reserve tier.
And it’d end up with them leaving the mode, never to return.
No we don’t.
Yes. Distance correction with scroll wheel. You can thank me later.
CL’s BR is higher than BBs, where am I, WOWS?
Some player like me would fight through it, and some will wait until gaijin released a premium vehicle.
Yes, but I don’t want to play in a huge map like 80 km x 80 km. We can consider adding bigger map when more modern ships comes.
They are already in game as naval EC on the weekends and they are awesome. But i think it will be a neverending problem that to have some sort of tactics involved as in where is the enemy fleet, what ship are you in, where are the objectives, is it viable or possible with your ships speed to flank or even sneak around on maps with these sizes takes time. A lot of time. With 50 kph full flank speed sailing across the english channel (La Manche) of about 30 km width takes around 40 to 45 minutes going straight across full flank speed all the time. Doesn’t mean you can’t still pull it off. I played naval ec matches where players solo sailed all the way across the channel (one time someone in a parizhskaya kommuma or an izmail with 40/52 kph max speed no less and no one of the entire enemy team realized or did anthing. This madman just did a one hour dash clearly visible and just started solo invading Britain in a ww1 dreadnought)
Obviously thats not really a thing that should happen in regular RB matches which have a match duration of 5 to 15 minutes. Which is a good thing (For the most part, obviously not when 3 PT boats end every match before anyone else can do anything). Having to sail for an hour during a long range engagement in which one ship is trying to close the distance and the other is trying to keep it all while trying to angle and still hit shots can be a very unique experience but its nothing that should happen in the fast paced RB mode that i guess more players prefer and use for grinding.
On the other hand a lot of the quite small naval RB maps are more or less unplayable if you see the whole enemy fleet right after spawn, 10 to 20 km away from you and if youre unlucky you get immediately dialled in by 4 enemy players. And all the objectives are right in the middle, even closer to the enemies spawn, turning most attempts to cap into a one way suicide trip. unless youre in something thats almost unsinkable. WOWs solves these problems through unrealistically high speed of the ships, insane turning speed and terrain that you maybe would find in a couple of spots on the planet but nowhere else.
The map size needed for these more tactical approaches to naval gameplay with the actual ship’s speed and the match duration of 15 minutes max makes it very hard to create a gamemode for 30 players at once that is more than a absolutely chaotic mess.
Hey guys just a quick reminder please no swearing.
3.1.1 profanity, obscene and offensive language, words, phrases, and abbreviations (including their disguised forms);
I somehow doubt it but I’ll play ball;
The players who want modern stuff: Why not start the grind now to be on top of the additions later?
IE get ahead of the curve instead of being behind it?
Once the modern navy is added, those battleships will be so much cheaper to grind. The RP cost will be lower, and so will the SL price.
Assuming that modern ships will be rank VIII. And even then, it won’t be that much cheaper.
I am sure Battleship is going to get dumped to the bottom to, like, rank 5 at least. If only 1 rank higher, it, of course, is not going to make a big difference. Rank 6-9 Can be where missile ships come in the future and will make a huge difference in economy if that happens.
To engage with this directly topic and its question
I understand the frustration especially with the horrid compression that is 5.0 - 6.0. The transition to fighting battleships in cruisers and destroyers is really harsh and needs work. But to go as far as to call it the worst mode is a bit exaggerated. Though that might be me just having gotten used to all of it, and having pushed past having to grind out those BR’s
I Like naval. I like it a lot, I can look past the flaws and genuinely enjoy the mode at any BR.
I think the lack of naval community presence/representation among CC’s is an issue that puts naval in a bad light. Most of the big CC’s talking about naval, frankly, don’t know what they’re talking about. I watched Phly’s recent video on naval. He just wants another Battlestations game. That video did not seriously look at naval, he just wants another Battlestations.
There is also a distinct lack of clarity when it comes to the game mechanics in naval, which I again largely attribute to a smaller amount of dedicated players to put these out there. Naval has no equivalent to a bomb chart or missile statistics chart for its many obscure mechanics. And that’s a real shame. Gaijin themselves are also really bad at actually making content around it too. How many new players just don’t know about distance correction for NRB? even when they made a video on how to aim they completely ignored that vital control option
As for the future, there’s a lot more to potentially add, and I’m looking forward to it.
TL:DR
Naval certainly has some flaws, but so does every mode. Naval is not unique in that sense. I think a larger issue is the lack of positive, clear communication about the mode and its mechanics, and the lack of community resources. I’m still looking forward to what we could potentially get.
They are going to have to move the light cruisers to a lower BR and add more heavy cruisers in that BR range which have more of a chance to fight battleships and battle cruisers.
