Statcard updates

Also, for ground vehicles, some of the armor descriptions makes no sense.

Like the Churchill Gun Carrier, is labeled as "Without Armor".

Or the GAZ-AAA being labeled "Bullet proof".

which is fair, but theres also the option to align everything to the right so they dont have to resort to scrolling texts

To be honest, I feel for conventional armour, like WW2 vehicles, the old stats, with the front, side and rear, for hull and turret worked better than the current ones, since it gave you a general idea of what the armour of the tank was.
One of the few things that could be added for the tanks with conventional armour, would be that it takes add-on armour plates into consideration and shows that on top of the current amount of armour, or at least gives an indicator that the vehicle have that armour.

The new stat card does make a lot sense for more modern tanks, where there might only be less than 100mm of conventional armour, but the composite makes it have 300mm extra of armour against kinetic projectile and 700mm against HEAT weapons, because of ERA on top of the composite.

They shall add it back.

this is also looks kinda weird,

‘search radar antennas x3’ (types revealed when you hover over it) would be better

I really wish they’d add a horsepower per ton for ground vehicles, and thrust/weight ratio for planes
(and empty weight for planes)

Also I’m personally not a fan of how the new stat card is in the way when hovering over vehicles in the tech tree window, and moving the mouse to the right. I’d say it should require you to right click if you want to actually have that window stay open. it’s just gonna get in the way a lot when you want to quickly hover over a bunch of different vehicles in the tech tree

bro… that’s already added in game more than year ago

besides the obvious missing information (weights and so forth) they really should just enable showing the twr, wing loading, hp/w for everyone besides having it be locked behind a dev only flag.
it’s nice that some conditions were elaborated upon, but there’s still issues:

okay… at what weight? at what speed? is this the best sustained turn rate? if so, it’s incorrect because at peak this aircraft sustains a turn time of 22s on max fuel?

once again flat out wrong info, no conditions either… but this is likely more of a deeper fm issue with all flankers having actual flight ceilings at past 20km
image

top speed at x alt also not quite correct but it ultimately doesn’t matter for this. improvements on this end would be nice.

I haven’t really looked closely at the ingame statcards for quite a while (have just looked stuff up on the wiki), so I didn’t know that there were those stats on the statcard.

However, it doesn’t say what the flap position is, in regards to the speed limit. From what i can see, the flap position is the landing flaps, but it doesn’t say that ingame. It also doesn’t say what the combat and takeoff flap speed limits are.

Actually, now that I have had a look at the stat cards on the Dev server again. I can see that flap speed limit is something that have been removed from the updated stat card:

I’m not on the dev server, but going by all these screenshots I’m really disliking the “pcs”. I’ve never seen it written like this anywhere else (with regards to military vehicles, such as in in books, magazines, etc).

It also triggers “pieces of flair” (Office Space movie) for me, but that’s probably only for a few people… (apologies if it now triggers that for anyone else reading this)

Pieces of candy
Pieces in a jigsaw puzzle
Pieces of flair
Pieces of gun… uh?

If they’re changing these so radically, they should make it selectable (customisable) as to what is shown on there. Sure have a default to cover most people, but have an advanced option to remove things, or add other things (such as combat flap speed limit).

Things like Takeoff Run … is this important when basically all airfields are huge now (except for legacy maps)? I’d like to remove that to clean up the card a bit.

i would rather it be customisable because i don’t need to know what shells it uses on the statcards

bro, there are 2 separate statcards in game for every vechicle

I also agree that the “pcs” do not feel or look good, maybe better to return to the old marker, and put it before ammo count to make some room for long names.

For example current dev server text:
“2pcs 30mm DEFA 554 cannon - Ammo: 250”
could be:
“30mm DEFA 554 cannon - x2 - Ammo: 250”
or even
“30mm DEFA 554 cannon - 2pcs - Ammo: 250”
would be better in my opinion

It might even be better to just not have the scrolling name either, just make long names display the portion that fits in the space given, since the full name can also be seen by hovering the name anyway.

In general the new stat cards make it way to complicated and harder to understand than the current ones without doing anything better

I am largely restating things here, but I just wanted to make sure this gets more attention and hopefully some changes are made.

Negatives

The cutting off and scrolling of weapon names is very bad for readability, as it makes it harder to parse what weapons a vehicle actually has. This needs to be resolved by changing the column widths and reducing the space between the “pcs” and the weapon name.

Some of the word choice and syntax (e.g. “pcs”, “Projectile proof”, “go to viewing”, “Ammo 120 mm”) are very strange. The use of “2 pcs” instead of the simpler “x2” is visually more cluttered, and “Ammo 120 mm” is just an atypical way to indicate that information. “go to viewing” I assume is just a translation error, while the ‘protection’ types are a bunch of nonsense – “Without armor” and “Bullet proof” and “Projectile proof” are strange and arbitrary terms, I don’t think it’s an adequate substitute for the current system of listing the ‘overall’ plate thicknesses.

There seems to be some bugs with the display of ammo for rocket and missile launchers on tanks as well, but these are not strictly downsides and will hopefully be corrected.

Positives

Adding more information and interactions is always welcome, allowing items to be hovered for more information is excellent.

Other notes

I do think it would be nice if the developers could split more names of things into “short” and “long” versions, specifically with weapon names and ammunition. If weapon names were shortened further, they may be able to fit more comfortably in the current format, with a longer name appearing when hovered.

Sample of what a "short" and "long" ammo name would look like

I think its from an earlier update but I also really dislike it when they put things the wrong way round

  • 120mm - Calibre
  • 4.31kg - Mass
Spoiler

did they hire Yoda to write the statcards?
‘0.03 seconds, the fuze delay is’

The fact you cant tell how much armor a vehicle now has at a quick glance by looking at the stat card is ridiculous
