I wondered about this.
Is there a known real life case where F-117’s were actually operating in daylight against tanks?

Considering the amount of sorties and that the Iraqi SAM system was crippled in the late stages of the war, it’s entirely doable
Sadly we don’t have documents to prove it other than our assumptions because “muh confidential information” ,but i think that the Nighthawk struck some tank battalions under the Sun
It’d be really nice with a cutoff point somewhere (or slight overlap) where older bombers and planes has the current base bombing system but above say BR 10(?) they implement a new system of bunkers, hangars, MLRS sites, etc that each have different “health” and requiring specific ordinance to defeat the bunkers and equivalents.
It would make strikers and bombers way more interesting to play as well.
The AC-130 (and equivalents if they exist) spawned in with AI crew would be a really interesting option next to nukes, at like 8(?) kills with no deaths. So players that get close to a nuke but doesn’t get it can still have something fun as a reward but still something that can be stopped by the enemy SPAA.
Hmmm, maybe not health, but really armor - which is a mechanic already in game. So to kill for example a bunker with a weapon capable of actually penetrating the walls (depending on angle too).
Maybe I understood you wrong, but to me “health” implies a kind of hit-points based system, which would not be the way I think it should be done.
But then atm we have such a hit-point system for mission targets and airfields, and this we should get away from. Away from “drop x kg of explosives onto that rough area to kill the base” to “destroy this building and that warehouse and those vehicles”. Would make gameplay quite some magnitudes more interesting…
I wish we would get squadron vehicles for nation which still doesn’t have a single one.
!HYPE!
I am so ready
I ment it in the same way bases currently work.
So my idea was to have armor the way you describe, but instead of detailed modeled insides of the bunkers/hangars and the player having to destroy a specific amount of “modules” for example, it would instead require a specific amount of TNT equivalent to completely destroy that specific target.
So lets say you have an area of bunkers and hangars, the hangars could be destroyed with normal ordinance but the bunkers would require bombs/rockets specifically made for penetrating and destroying bunkers. and if you only drop like a 100kg bunker-bomb it might not destroy it completely but a 500kg bunker-bomb would.
Now i don’t know if “health” would be the best way to do that, but i just felt like it would need at least something to differentiate the bombs that work the same way but with less TNT equivalents than others. Otherwise there wouldn’t really be a need for the bigger bombs when you could take 2 small ones and get better results.
Never thought that adding an interesting aircraft in a game about military vehicle would provoke some people to this extent.
What happened to pillboxes in sim? Old guides I saw said ground battles/the frontline would have various pillbox variants.
I am yet to find any in 3 days of flying so far.
It makes sense that bunkers need heavier bombs for balance.
Instead of a health bar, maybe different targets could have varying resistance, so smaller bombs chip away but only bigger ones fully destroy. Keeps it strategic without oversimplifying. What do you think?
Isn’t that what a “health” bar would imply?
Just to show how much “chipping away” each bomb does.
Edit:
in SIM though it could be purely visual with the specific building changing visually until destroyed.
I understand that this topic can be sensitive,
But could you clarify what specifically you find offensive about it? The intent was obviously to share a historical fact and highlight an unusual outcome, not to downplay the seriousness of the conflict.
I think it’s a way to experiment with new feature stealth
What does the confidential text say? I can’t uncensor it
It’s just junk for memes.
These words: The man responsible, Zoltán Dani and the F-117A pilot who was shot down, Dale Zelko, met after the incident and are now friends
Hopefully an event vehicle. I don’t care if it’s semi-useless. It will be fun for Custom Battles shenanigans.
Exactly, we’re on the same page here. A “health” bar could still work, but instead of just a flat bar, it could represent different layers of resistance or armor. For example, the bar could be segmented into different sections, with each section representing a different level of structural integrity or armor thickness. Smaller bombs would only chip away at the outer segments, while bigger bombs would deplete the tougher, inner segments more effectively.
I think to have it more like COD where the plane just circles while the player shoots all the guns
