It’s your time mate, and I’ve not played SLM so I can’t really tell you which to go for from personal experience.
But from what I’ve seen, SLM is just flatly, and quite significantly superior to Spyder.
Said it before, but Spyder plays like someone took a Strela, made it multiple times as big, and only allowed it to fire through the use of a radar which doesn’t work half the time.
You know in the old AA’s like M163 or Shilka, when you lock people the green lock square often sways and drifts ? Spyder’s radar does that, but orders of magnitude worse. (Like, the square is often multiple kilometers away from the target).
So when you fire, the missile just flies towards nothing. Because your lock is aimed at nothing.
Derby is atrocious. Without dramatization, it might be the single worst SAM on any vehicle in the entire game. The vertical launch loft gives it a 4km deadzone, and it’s kinetically dead against maneuvering targets by 8km. The one and only use case I have found for it is taking down strike drones, as those spawn close and slow enough to have little counterplay. For everything else it’s hopeless.
Python is the only option, but that thing currently has a bug / ‘feature’ where it violently wobbles the nose side to side, draining all its energy. Even with that I’m struggling to hit things that are within 2-3km, and again, it’s kinetically dead against maneuvering targets by 8km.
The radar is so awful that neither are really capable of intercepting any incoming CAS munitions. (I took a couple GBU’s down in one match, but I’d say 95% of the missiles I fire as interceptors just miss)
I could hit drones from far away but my issue is the Python 5s seem to A. Not utilize Thrust Vectoring and B. it never pulls more than 26Gs which when I come from using the ITO where I can max out its Gs for it to pull but then using the Self Guiding IR where it refuses to pull more than 26 Gs even w/ a 50G limit it sucks. I agree with you on the Radar display, I hate how its always jumping and the Target #s arent organized (i.e: a Missile is shot, its given the Target #2 but when it pops back up its given the Target #6) its to confusing and the fact it auto selects sucks, The Ability to Zoom doesn’t work and I cant Use the Thermal Optic on the roof to guide my Python 5s w/ LOBL. My radar sucks, it fails to track a eurofighter flying in a turn at 8 km. Its my biggest waste of money yet.
These are all the same issues that were noted and reported on the dev server.
They didn’t fix any of them.
Besides a small change to the number of targets the radar can track at once, and its search angles / range, this is the exact same, barely functional vehicle that appeared on second dev.
We were told it was WiP but seemingly it was final lol.
why are gaijin like this?
the aps they just wont fix for the past 8 months, the merkava’s armor, even worse the namer armor, even worse the entire sholef,
why do ppl keep paying for premiums and supporting this company?
I also saw that there is no bug reports on the drag, speed and optical lock of the missile so if someone know how to make thos it will be great and maybe could save us
Yeah, I don’t get it. I’ve tried breaking the lock right after launch, but that just causes the Python to aimlessly fly in circles directly above you lol.
(It even TK’d a team mate who was like 200° the other direction from the enemy I launched at once lol).
Your right, I though it did, it has 18 Control surfaces which it seems 4 in total are used, it says it can pull 50 but yeah its still weird and yeah Im not gonna make my final decision on how bad the SPYDER is until missiles are fixed (Proxy and tracking) becuase I’ve noticed my I-Derbys never have their seeker turn on and fly on Datalink and IOG the whole time.
