Ofc it’ll be better but I’m predicting that it won’t be as good as people are making it
Missile will be notched as usual, given seeker didn’t change and anyone who worked their way to top tier jets was forced to learn how to defend against ARHs showing up on RWR.
Yup, only missiles with reinforced seekers are MICA, Type 03, 9M317MA, Aster-30, those are the ones I can remember. Probably more.
But hopefully the I-DERBY ER should at least pose more of a threat than a “Friendly reminder, anti aircraft exists”
Even those are notch+chaff just fine, as narrower seeker FoV only comes into play when target:
-correctly notched ie forced missile radar to turn off PD filter
-remains detectable in Pulse mode (flies high enough to not disappear in ground clutter)
-flies fast enough to maintain sufficient angular velocity to trigger angle gating
given all SAMs launch from, uh, ground at zero speed and have 20km or more seeker activation distance, its difficult to not get heads up warning the moment missile leaves rail.
Right now derby er dual pulse make sure the missile reach the target just mach 1 or even below. If the target is going headon initially, the missile calculates that if it will reach the target after 25sec it will activates the second pulse. The issue is if the target turns away after the dual pulse activates the missile won’t even reach the target if it is far away. Even at best scenario the enemy plane continue flying straight headon 25 sec, derby er arrives the target only at around mach 1.1. Right now derby er activates second pulse at around 8km travelling mach 1.2 even the target is 20km away.
What derby er should do is glide subsonic for 5-10km and reactivates the second pulse accelerate back to mach 2.2. This missile have excellent glide characteristics and extremely low drag under mach 1.
This thing is absolute crap, I don’t even know if I can stand to grind out the er version, it basically has a 10% chance to hit anything you fire at, better off bringing the machbet out.
Is there a reason the Python 5 doesn’t get Datalink and GNSS like the Aim-9X Block 2 and the IRIS-T? Would be nice to have
Can’t find any source on it. Although I do believe python 5 on spyder have DL. (Just my believe)
The thing is SPYDER MR python 5 even gets a extra booster increasing to the range to 30km. From an engineering perspective, it is totally nonsense to implement python 5 in SPYDER without DL.
P5 missing a huge Feature that it scans the skies after the target like irist systmes that why it missing alot
yeah, and python 5 won’t turn correctly like aim9d lol 50g but feels like 18g
I remember back in the day launching a 9D at a guy that was ~600km/h from 2km away and it missed, that was funny
40 actually
Can’t we send an email to rafael and ask for more info about it ?
How? Will they reply and give info to a random person?
If it works we can fix every ISR bug reports thats related to Rafael. XD
mate obviously they aint gonna give us classified info lmao
Exactly.
To be honest, this might seem a bit silly, but I think it’s amazing that missiles are now hitting their targets even under these circumstances.
The spyder radar is much better now compared to before
its literally the same thing as before
Nothing has changed about it it’s not even true to it’s irl version it doesn’t have a 90° search zone and the excuse for that is that it’s physically impossible while that said the new pantsir has 90° of search zone because reasons
