SPYDER - General Discussion

SPYDER is completely helpless at top tier bro this is ridiculous. E2K at 7km and he’s just impervious to everything I throw at him. Gaijin didn’t give Israel a top tier AA they gave us a Deuce on our desk covered it in glitter

couldn’t agree more, the spyder right now is an absolute joke of an aa system. almost completely useless in the state that it’s in right now

Rafael brochures IIRC list launch conditions for attacker and target (subsonic and medium altitude), something rarely seen in first place.

Replicating that in game, Derby launched at 0.9mach and 4km high against subsonic target has about 50km range according to radar range estimates. So in that sense its “correct”.

If they refuse to fix it they need to lower it to 11.3. Not only does it lack performance compared to vehicles like the IRIS-T but it also only has HALF of the ammo count.

BR is broken at this point, a full decompression to 13.0 is needed, it’s not just about SPYDER.

14 would probably be better to match aircraft top BR. They need to stop with the musical compressions and do the right thing, then stick with the right thing when they add stuff. Late WWII all the way to the early 1980’s is so compressed that it is disheartening to see a full uptier anymore.

I’ve played a few game with it and gosh, it’s so bad… the radar is unreliable.

Would anyone know anything about Rafael’s “Global Link”?

A Janes articles says Python 5 were fitted with it. To me it basically sounds like datalink although datalink is never mentioned.

“Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has enhanced its fifth-generation Python-5 short-range air-to-air missile (AAM) with a networked capability, enabling it to acquire targets in a tactical air-to-air environment from associate aircraft equipped with the company’s Global Link software-defined radio (SDR) system.”

“Global Link simultaneously supports legacy (AM/FM) communication and advanced MANET waveforms… that not only delivers enhanced airborne situational awareness but also provides an uplink to Rafael’s Python-5 and other AAMs”

Just a radio for identification from what I can gather. Also they said the aircraft was fitted with it, not the Python 5

It seems to me more like that.
The missile does not have DL, but when on a aircraft, it can get data from a different aircraft, and be launched on that aircraft target, without launch platform needing do aquire it.

All hope is lost then. I guess ill just cry myself to sleep now :)

No wait a second. Firstly it clearly states the missile was enhanced with networked capabilities, it just states that the new SDR system in on the airframes but if we can prove SPYDER has DL channels which it obviously does then there is hope as this article essentially confirms that Python 5 can receive targeting updates via DL. Furthermore when testing the Python 5, IRIS-T, and ASRAAM against the then new Aim 9X BLK 2 the US DOD stated the 9X had received “Datalink capabilities similar to Python 5, IRIS-T and ASRAAM” there is a bug report on it that mentions it. Which ofc gaijin shot down. Its inconceivable that the IDF would ever accept an inferior product to the missile that came prior. Its just not common sense. Something is fishy here there is more than enough Info to prove Python 5 has DL and we are getting stopped at the last step.

And before someone tries to say the aforementioned networked capabilities isn’t datalink. Please for those of us in the class who are so obviously of lower intellectual constitution. Define Data link

What bug report are you talking about

I’ll find it

Community Bug Reporting System my bad it was Raytheon not the DOD. Point still stands. An active comparison was made

SPYDER AIO does have datalink. Rafael’s own SPYDER Family brochure claims that every system does (considering they say systems)

Anyway I’ve made a report as that one got closed

Python-5 missing DL // Gaijin.net // Issues this one mentions the wording used in the iaf website

I’m pretty sure thats only the datalink between the launch vehicle and the command vehicles on other spyder configurations. So it sadly doesn’t help with the lack of DL of the Phyton 5

Could you put a link or the brochure itself in the report? Like this, it will be refused because there’s no proof attached.
