SPYDER - General Discussion

Community Bug Reporting System my bad it was Raytheon not the DOD. Point still stands. An active comparison was made

SPYDER AIO does have datalink. Rafael’s own SPYDER Family brochure claims that every system does (considering they say systems)

Anyway I’ve made a report as that one got closed

Python-5 missing DL // Gaijin.net // Issues this one mentions the wording used in the iaf website

I’m pretty sure thats only the datalink between the launch vehicle and the command vehicles on other spyder configurations. So it sadly doesn’t help with the lack of DL of the Phyton 5

Could you put a link or the brochure itself in the report? Like this, it will be refused because there’s no proof attached.

Ah, didn’t notice this on my phone.

is there an i-derby ER model in the files?

The current Derby SAM model is supposed to be that.

wait, the derby model they are using in the spyder rn is the ER? i didn’t notice it had the boosters.

I’m not saying it’s visually correct, just that it’s the i_derby_er_rocket.

probably a typo, it should be named sr.

Explain the Derby SR and ER having DL then? Its a two way connection, so obviously SPYDER has DL

Yeah wrote that a bit missunderstanding of course the Spyder has Datalink. I referred to a comment that the Phyton 5 sadly lacks the DL as far as I can tell in real life which it really would need to make it at least on par with aim9x

It really lacks datalink? Damn, even the SAM-1C (Type 81 C) IR missile from the early nineties has UTDC (Up to date command), which for the game’s purposes is DL.

The articles clearly states that Python 5 can receive targeting updates from both launch platform and ancillary platforms. That’s DL by any other name. Those same articles claim Python 5 can engage in data transfer via secure uplink. You can even see the dielectric panel used to facilitate two way DL on the back of the missile. Not to mention the onboard computer and it’s ability to differentiate targets thanks in part to DL

There is more proof that P5 has DL than not.

I never reached more then 30 maybe 40km even on high alt bvr
And also derby should have more thrust then the python 4 but in game it has less

Derpy can score hits as far as 70, maybe 80km launch distance when given glorious launch conditions, sekrit sauce being target that takes no evasive actions, as usual.

To be fair I have 0 issue with the Derby on jets in fact I prefer it to AIM120. Ive been asking for Derby on the RA’AM for at least 4 months now, and P4 ofc
