SPYDER - General Discussion

It seems to me more like that.
The missile does not have DL, but when on a aircraft, it can get data from a different aircraft, and be launched on that aircraft target, without launch platform needing do aquire it.

All hope is lost then. I guess ill just cry myself to sleep now :)

No wait a second. Firstly it clearly states the missile was enhanced with networked capabilities, it just states that the new SDR system in on the airframes but if we can prove SPYDER has DL channels which it obviously does then there is hope as this article essentially confirms that Python 5 can receive targeting updates via DL. Furthermore when testing the Python 5, IRIS-T, and ASRAAM against the then new Aim 9X BLK 2 the US DOD stated the 9X had received “Datalink capabilities similar to Python 5, IRIS-T and ASRAAM” there is a bug report on it that mentions it. Which ofc gaijin shot down. Its inconceivable that the IDF would ever accept an inferior product to the missile that came prior. Its just not common sense. Something is fishy here there is more than enough Info to prove Python 5 has DL and we are getting stopped at the last step.

And before someone tries to say the aforementioned networked capabilities isn’t datalink. Please for those of us in the class who are so obviously of lower intellectual constitution. Define Data link

What bug report are you talking about

I’ll find it

Community Bug Reporting System my bad it was Raytheon not the DOD. Point still stands. An active comparison was made

SPYDER AIO does have datalink. Rafael’s own SPYDER Family brochure claims that every system does (considering they say systems)

Anyway I’ve made a report as that one got closed

Python-5 missing DL // Gaijin.net // Issues this one mentions the wording used in the iaf website

I’m pretty sure thats only the datalink between the launch vehicle and the command vehicles on other spyder configurations. So it sadly doesn’t help with the lack of DL of the Phyton 5

Could you put a link or the brochure itself in the report? Like this, it will be refused because there’s no proof attached.

Ah, didn’t notice this on my phone.

is there an i-derby ER model in the files?

The current Derby SAM model is supposed to be that.

wait, the derby model they are using in the spyder rn is the ER? i didn’t notice it had the boosters.

I’m not saying it’s visually correct, just that it’s the i_derby_er_rocket.

probably a typo, it should be named sr.

Explain the Derby SR and ER having DL then? Its a two way connection, so obviously SPYDER has DL

Yeah wrote that a bit missunderstanding of course the Spyder has Datalink. I referred to a comment that the Phyton 5 sadly lacks the DL as far as I can tell in real life which it really would need to make it at least on par with aim9x
