Why do they bother adding more spikes to vehicles? They were modeled and implemented so poorly that they almost can’t kill tanks. Why is NATO equipment constantly modeled like Russian equipment in real life, and Russian equipment modeled like NATO equipment in real life?
well technically the equipment is utilized by NATO, it isn’t actually NATO equipment, just like the BMP or T-80
but yeah the spike is not only malfunctioning far more often than it should but missing half its capabilities
How should they be modelled?
Also all spike currently use the same code and they dont call them Mells aswell as that they dont differentiate between the spike versions they all are the same
Yeah if the spikes would top attack like in the video it would be great.
But currently they fly frontally at a tank, and get eaten by turret armor, and half of the time they hit the barrel or a track anyways. And if the enemy tank mooves you can forget them completly.
They are in dire need of a buff. I dont need them to make a kill every time i launch one, but they should be more consitant and have the correct angle and pisition of attack.
Its not that they need a buff a buff wont fix the problem, Its that it lofts to then just hit the turret armor which is caused by the guidance code in the game which is both an issue for ground aswell as naval so an issue for surface to surface missiles, which makes it so that a missile simply locks to the center of the model with IR so when approaching it wil pull up shortly before it hits because its basically the same guidance that air to air missiles have, the code isnt really made to hit from the top or straight side on it just goes center mass
You are right, the code targeting center mass is definitely a problem.
But gaijin is not some small indie developer with 3 dudes in a garage, i bet they have multiple teams of programmers. It should not take a advanced software developer more than a day to implement a correct flight path for the spikes.
But i am starting to doubt they have a software developement division. I think most of the team is model designers to bring more and more modern mbts each update, and a few special needs hires, with the job to hit maps with the flattening tool and randomly add red areas for no-go zones.
I know I am not trying to excuse gaijin here they haveenough funds to make it work aswell as the personal
Spikes can also be manually controlled and they can be fired blind with the target being assigned after launch.
The target can also be switched after the missile has been launched.
Those features would probably habe a bad effect on gameplay, but they could at least make the fire and forget system work…
Not just spikes
That is assuming those programmers know what they’re doing. And whether or not the existing code even allows for a change like that to be made without horribly breaking something else. In theory you’re right, practically more often than not touching a seemingly innocent bit of code tends to have chaos butterfly effects like you won’t believe.
