Spike ATGMs Suck, and So Will the PUMA Spike Upgrade

then I retract my statement and apologize

Hmm…

Makes mo wonder if there are some secret document about true spike trajectory o secret fire mode in Gaijin possession :D

Also I wonder why the missile has so much affection for the driver port instead of the center of the mass, which apparently is possible…

Anyhow Spike is screwed similar way as Hellfire is. It would deserve it proper flight trajectory and at least Fire & Observe (without update) capability. Just to give WT Spike some real Spike vibe.

i did a test a while ago with a friend trying to turn a tank at the last moment before the missile hits and tests were very consistant that the missile dosent try to go for the center of mass and instead it attempts to go at the driver of the tank for some reason, at first we tought it was aiming at the driver port but nope it was actively trying to go for the driver itself

also regarding this yeah the spike top attack functioning its 100% the hellfire for what we could see and this goes for the PARS too

dont forget that PARS 3 and Spikes also like to switch targets or you cant even get a lock on the target because it locks the wreck 10 meters next to it

i remember some files i found like a month ago that the PARS missile its TV guided with IR assistance so it shouldnt be able to change targets and the missile was able to hit 4 out of 5 targets while these targets were moving trough houses

I’ve consistently noticed the Spike LR2 on the Vilkas hitting the Commander on tanks I shoot at if it hits and does damage at all, but for the fact that it’s a Tandem charge, it rarely does damage beyond destroying ERA, whereas the tandem charge is supposed to allow it to breach beyond ERA causing damage to components and crew.

I have often seen them switch targets, even to tank wrecks that are 50+m away from the original target and I have also often seen them self detonate even though the line of sight ro the target has never been broken.

I guess, as long as RU doesn’t get a vehicle with similar missiles, fire-and-forget missiles in this game will never see a fix. That’s how it always is…

Has anyone reported this yet? Because the spike rocket login doesn’t log into the middle of the vehicle.
This renders the missile useless and is simply alien to all other nations.

It’s been reported until people saw blue in the face but you know how it is, the Snail is selective in what it wants to fix.

Not sure if I missed it but whether it’s the KF41 or Vilkas, can’t the launchers also adjust its elevation to fire at closer ranges? IRL? Most Western style IFV’s in service tend to utilize a similar launcher so if it can be corrected now on an adjustable launcher (I know it folds down, but does the hydraulic system allow it to change its elevation or manipulate its angle of attack?), it would be great to prevent future additions from being hindered.

they can adjust to different angles depending on what the commander or gunner firing it wants to set it since it can elevate up to 45 degrees and to -4 degrees, here a video of it in a different angle than the one ingame

by this point it’d be easier to just allow manual control for f and f missiles

funny thing is, in war thunder the shot would propably have missed because the range was to short

Would Rheinmetall responds an email asking about the max and min elevation of the launcher? I don’t think that this is critical info that need to be classified, but i never send an email to companies asking this sort of question.

They should make it so You could aim it normally like a cannon just like the bmp2M atgms

You can im very sure they can respond since it isnt critical info

Thanks man. This would actually make the vehicles more effective and not as much skim the top or commanders position. I wonder if there’s been any bug reports.
