And here’s the next awesome feature: Pilots can fly to the airfield as often as they want to pick up new munitions! AA units, on the other hand, only have one reload!! That’s really, really great.
The result: SU-29s and SU-30s simply drop their KH-29s onto the battlefield from several of kilometers away, turn around, and keep doing it over and over. With a little skill, they can’t be shot down by Top-Tier AAs, since they dive before impact and thus disappear from the radar.
Another reason why the Top-Tier is practically dead.
Airfields are reasonably safe on most maps for the aircraft to get to, land and rearm. (Let alone heli pads being waaaaaay too close, allowing helis to rearm and re-engage instantly)
Driving basically any of the top tier multi-vehicle SAMs to one of those cap points is basically suicide, unless your team has strong dominance, even then no gurantee
Now I dont think they should have an infinite ammo resupply point inside the spawn points or anything like that. Would just get abused. But they could add periodic resupply drops that appear/are dropped randomly near-ish the spawn(s) that allow SPAAs (and anything else with them) to recover their supply crates, allowing for intermittent resupply without quite as much danger. They still ahve to move, its still fairly limited, but it gives them a source of safer-ish resupply. At the moment, in more than a few SPAA, it would simply be easier to J-out and respawn in something else than try to resupply.
For the record, I routinely move the SPAAs I usually play, things like the Rapier and Stormer HVM onto cap points, but they are relatively small and easy to maneuver in comparison to the higher BR ones.
Indeed a possibility. But J-ying out costs points and directly leads to an disadvantage for the team.
By the way there is still an ongoing unsolved bug, when you are in TopTier AA , you place support vehicle and fire, you lose your spawn protection instantly.
Support didn’t even responsed on that ticket.
But around 12,0 it is nearly impossible to move your AA into a cap for reload.
So the one or the other way there should be a solution.
it wouldn’t be too hard to make a logistics system where ammo create spawned at the points and APCs could load up and drive ammo back to the SPAAs, or the create could be towed. they could also spawn them at the heli pads for the utility helis to drop in.
There are lots of interesting ways to handle that kind of thing, but Gaijin seems to want to just turn the game into 5 minute CoD style one tap, quick knife matches.
Good point !!! With helicopters it is the same. No matter if MI-28 or AHs … they are just throwing the rockets onto the field and go down instantly behind trees or anything else. Then reload and same procedure again.
That though, is an issue of heli pads being too close above about 11.0?
They need to move all heli pads to be at least 15km away from 11.0-12.3 and for at least top tier, more like 25km away. That way there is a forced amount of travel time for helis, as both pads are within range of top tier heli AGMs
It’s sort of what they where getting at with the AI systems in nuclear escalation… but within 5 or 10 minuets now you just have most of both teams throwing nukes on everything which, at least IMO, defeats the point (of the complex AI logistics).
Having a proper large scale combined arms mode where AI convoys bought ammo to the spawns and had to be defended/ destroyed, AI arty emplacements that attacked players unless they where destroy by CAS/ counter battery fire (which would actually give all the new SPH systems something useful to do other then drive around derping tanks), modular air fields that would affect what aviation could do when certain parts where destroyed (crater the runway and only VTOLs can take off, blow up fuel storage and they cannot refuel, hardened bunkers for ammo storage that needed bunker busters to destroy etc) would be awesome and gaijin sort of hinted at that for a possible later development of nuclear escalation, but I’m not going to hold my breath on it.
They still have to move, they arent necessarily “in spawn”, just not quite as dangerous as the cap points, and its limited to just recovering 1x resupply crate per drop.
Could even just be a single resupply for each spawn per match, that occured randomly, so you couldnt plan around it
make it extremely limited, but safer than the cap points which suck to resupply on even in a combat vehicle. Let alone any small SPAA. The trucks should not be forced to maneuver to them.
IRl, planes have to locate AA. in-game you play in a postage stamp. The only way to fix it would be to allow AA to drive outside the normally playable area. And i’m 100% for that.
