SPAAs nerf

using SPAAs as a SPG is getting more and more common, and that’s UNFAIR:
SPAAs should have a massive nerf: LIMITED TRAVERSABLE TERRESTRIAL SPACE

this means SPAA (and only SPAA, this means only anti-air vehicles with rapid-fire cannons, like Gepard, XM246, ZA-35, Falcon, ZSU-23/37, and every other SPAA that can fire at long distances with their cannons) can’t get out of a selected perimeter around their spawn.

this to improved the main role of this vehicles: ANTI-AIR (made to take down AIR OBJETIVES, not GROUND OBJETIVES).

Many of those you suggested, such as the Falcon, can only provide effective AA, when sat with your team in a forward position. So this suggestion would effectively murder any chance it has to get either ground or air kills.

It also basically turns all SPAA into fish in a barrel.

I cant think of a worse change you could make to nerf these vehicles in all roles

so for u its “acceptable” that a SPAA, which role is LITERALLY BEING AN AA, has APDS belts or high-penetration belts to shred ground targets

again, they’re SPAA, not a f*cking SPG or MBT

using the Falcon again. its already an 7.3 SPAAG at 8.3. Its at the same BR as 2x other SPAAGs with radar in the British TT and doesnt have a radar itself.

What more of a nerf do you really want?

If we got rid of the APDS, it would instantly drop down to 7.3.

I don’t see how this helps people in conventional tanks. Like yeah, you’re not getting shredded by SPAAG’s anymore, but also, you’re now getting shredded by CAS more because all your teams AA is uselessly sat trapped at the back of the map lol.

I personally wouldn’t mind seeing these SPAAG’s have their various forms of AP removed, which would allow many of them to go down in BR (some pretty significantly) - where they would actually be more of a deterrence to CAS again.

I’m sure a lot of people like their Autocannon TD’s and would dislike me suggesting that, but personally, I’d quite happily have something like my Falcon lose its AP if it meant it could go back to 7.3-7.7 and give those lineups an AA again.

Its tough… Certainly a Prototype version of the Falcon without APDS at 7.3 would be good to have, but I also dont really think the Falcon is all that OP at 8.3 either. So having both would be ideal.

Also means the people who cry about cas will then cry about it further as suddenly their entire AA section is confined in a nice and neat bubble, prime for FAB 3000 UMPK (or 12 tonne bomb, or fab 5000). So even assuming they are AA that aren’t required to be close to the action to defend the team, they’re now all nice and confined to be eradicated in a single pass, leaving the rest of the team defenseless.

It also means cannon SPAA can only contribute if they can see a target in this area, which means effectively the team is down a few players if they need everyone to push. Which is a pretty rubbish idea. AA having AP (though their list of SPAA with reliable AP is questionable, certainly not front penning anything with a shilka) allows them to engage with the game when there aren’t air, support pushes on either team if required, and means they aren’t sitting ducks the moment someone pushes up to them.

Frankly, AA should be better at dealing with tanks through crippling parts, but it seems after much moaning, Gaijin have decided that AA should have the bare minimum capacity to defend their own space, and not an iota more.

There are examples of vehicles made to engage air targets converted purely on fire support such like the ZSU-23-4M2.

Is OP going to make a thread everytime he loses his tank to something

This would be nice, but reclassifying all radarless SPG SPAA as light tanks, and removing all AP from radar SPAA would also work.

I support this plan, as I support removing AP belts from all SPAAs. Move them all down in BR so that they can do what they were primarily intended to do competently.

Man, do I even entertain this with an actual answer?

Outrageous BRUH moment.

I can’t wait to see that 50cal trucks also became light tanks.

Wait, What?

Do you know MIM-146 has 900mm of pen. right?

More SPAA and SPG in enemy team = more free kills for me

Isn’t that thing garbage anyways?

im only asking for the powerful SPAAGs, the ones that have cannons big enough to destroy a tank even from the front, or the ones with good radar (not M163) to lock targets at long distances

its a normal ATGM, not a in-tandem one, so it kinda sucks

its still useful, but it can’t pen soviet tanks cuz: ERA

You asked to remove all AP from Radar SPAA.

MIM-146 is a dual-purpose missile which were built for both G2G and G2A.
I don’t want to see that missile get gelded.

No matter how useful it is or not.
Especially when reason is just your own personal hatred of SPAA.
And it is unhistorical.
