I am currently grinding my way down the french tier, currently at 8.3, which became a nightmare.
After really enjoying the playstyle of the AMX-10 and the AMX-40, i was really looking forward to the AMX-30 tanks. But things took a turn…
I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but playing at this tier just puts you against SPAA’s who mow you down like paper. I have been killed so many times by SPAA that I can’t even keep track. When I do get the first shot, it feels like it doesn’t matter as the first salvo will just instakill me.
Why are these SPAA’s soo good against tanks? It almost feel like a comedyshow where I brawl with a Mouse for a few minutes, but then the Gepard just has to look at you and you die… Am I the only one feeling that the SPAA’s shouldn’t be this strong against ground targets?
I understand your concerns and I wonder why such things happens…
These anti-air systems could just work fine as anti-tank vehicles if their damage models worked as such. XM-246 is the best example of broken damage model that absorves spall and damage over all in trade for a few repairable non-critical modules and one crew member.
I guess you’re pointing out the variance between air kills and ground kills? (Which is admittedly a decent point to make.) But the K/S and K/D ratios aren’t particularly mind-blowing. If anything, this card only shows how many people have been spamming the XM246. It’s new. People spam new things, especially an SPAA at a BR when the US really needed a decent SPAA in GRB (between the M163 at 7.3 and the M247 and Chapparal at 9.0). At 8.3, it slots in nicely.
I get the same feeling… It’s ruining the game for me personally. I don’t mind getting beaten by a better or lucky player.
I just bought the AMX-30 super during the birthday week, still getting to that tier but at this rate, I really regret my purchase without even driving it…
Exactly, I’m pointing the fact that it has around 5x the amount of ground kills than it has of air kills which is a trend on most if not all 35 mm Oerlikons or similar anti-air systems equipped with. As I mentioned before, the addition is great and did filled a gap between M163 and XM-247 as you mentioned however the way this vehicle hasn’t been fixed or at least never stopped absorbing spall and damage just makes this perfect for anti-tank tasks, comparatively Marksman systems don’t have such issue.
Remember when there was such an uproar over the Falcon being better at whacking tanks than it was as an anti air, so Gaijin kept uptiering it so it kept facing more and more lightly armored vehicles? Pepperidge Farm remembers. :)
I don’t disagree with anything you’ve written, but it doesn’t personally bother me. I get ground frags with my SPAAs and I get fragged by SPAAs when I’m not in one. For me, I feel it evens out. But I can see how it might annoy or frustrate other folks.
SPAAs are so good against tanks since 35mm API is a literal nuke shell being fired at like 500 rounds/min. Hell i’m pretty sure i’ve killed a few tanks with the BMP-2MD’s HE round. IDK how, but ACs are just wack.
