SPAA stealth belts?

Been playing around 8.0 recently and running into that amerian monster SPAA that doesnt have tracers and man is it scary.

Is this the only SPAA with stealth belts? What exactly is the point of tracer rounds for radar assisted SPAA anyways. In game its just a massive downside, what about real life?

U mean the m247?
Yeah its not only tracer less but also proxy fused.
Meaning it doesnt even need direct hits to be effective.

its something to do with visual correction and close range engagement(tho rarely) correctly

I’d imagine because radar isn’t always reliable.

Terrain / Chaff etc can disrupt it. Even if the thing is locked there is still a degree of manual adjustment taking place, and should the radar fail entirely, tracers are pretty helpful if you’ve ever got to fall back to the old Mk.1 Eyeball.

Better to have and not need than need and not have.

The Chinese PGZ09 also has stealth belt, both of them are super deadly. Not a fan of SPAAs and I still use them because I think CAS should be completely removed from ground battles.

Anytime I shot some CAS Simps down before they could even reach the battle field, I open the message box and ctrl v: “imagine spending 800sp and can’t even get a single kill”

Cruise missiles justified?

iirc veak 40 also doesnt have tracers, I think its at 7.7 but doesnt have proxy shells

unfathomably based

Imagine disrespect when being overpowered

Sadly in real life these Closed-Top AAA can barely give you any vision from inside… And things look much smaller than in our game with visual assistance.

imo this can be just for scaring pilots away. Radars are actually working and accurate in real life anyways, it’s already 1976 when they got the Gepards

Unfortunetly in game its just a dinner bell for CAS at a lot of BRs

Literally all of CAS players the moment there is one slightly above average spaa

It used to and be at 8.7 but they got removed

I suspect another possible IRL reason was ammunition commonality. The cartridge used on radar AA guns was often the same as that used for non-radar AA guns or other autocannons that would need tracers for aim correction, so maybe they just chose to use the same ammunition (even though they usually do have non-tracer variants). For example, the 30×165mm cartridge used for the Tunguska and Pantsir is the same used for the BMP/BMD autocannons, and the Gepard’s Oerlikon GDF also has non-radar guided installations. Perhaps for the same reason, purpose made AA ammunition like AHEAD lacks tracers since they won’t be expected to be used for other uses that would require tracers for aim correction

^^Me Looking at 8.0 to 11.0, the majority and the CAP, not the few op CAS^^

MANY SPAA had tracerless belts. In game there are none all the way up to cold war era. Its rather absurd. It would be a huge buff to be able to shoot at planes withouth giving your position away.
