SPAA should never be preferred to be used as anti-tank rather than anti-air

I’m talking specifically about SPAA’'s that are so good at destroying tanks, people use them to hunt them instead of doing their job and defending team against planes.

Since Gaijin proved time and time again, that they can and will balance the vehicles for the gameplay sake, instead of realism - I don’t see why that shouldn’t be done the same for SPAA planes, like removing shells that are able to destroy tanks without effort without affecting ability for SPAA to hunt planes at that BR>

Realism is an essential quality that should be maintained where necessary. In the case of anti-ground capability of SPAA, it is important to maintain its qualities. If an SPAA is inherently more powerful against ground targets than aircraft, there is no point in artificially nerfing it to fit someone’s perception of its purpose. SPAA were designed with multirole capabilities in mind, just as fighters were designed to carry bombs and rockets if needed. In addition to destroying realism, restricting player freedom leads to boring gameplay and player frustration. There is little reason for such a policy.

OTOMATIC really is the only one doing this.
The rest are about equal at both.

Artificial nerfs aren’t necessary.

I remember sd kfz 6/2 was on 1.7, now its on 2.3 because of its abilities.

At its current tier, it is competing with radar SPAA, but is while it is not viable as an SPAA against anything other than stupid CAS players who get too close, it can frontally Pen the leopard 2A4, the Abrams, and the T-80. The list goes on.

Nah. SPAA need them for self defence too. Asking for a nerf just cause someone got frustrated is…something. Some SPAA were designed to face tanks too as a secondary role.

I think they OP was discussing SPAA like the Gerard and whatnot, not stuff like the high tier American SPAA designed to have AT roles as well like the LAV-AD and the ADATS

I believe the LAV-AD could’ve been labeled as light tank rather than anti-air, ADATS in other hand is two-in-one, maybe labeled as anti-air is best, cheaper to spawn.

You realize what the AD is LAV-AD stands for tho right? There are true light tank variants however, such as the LAV-25, LAV-25A1/A2/A3, LAV-AT/ATM, and the LAV-AG. However the LAV-AG is a true AD platform variant and is seen as such ingame. It was named accordingly IRL and is designated such ingame.

Secondary role IRL
But in WT, averege 8.3-9.3 game, 1st spawn: 4-5 Gepards, 2 Falcon, 2 ITPSV, 3 XM246
Autocannons with AP rounds its the most frustratings things in the game. In tanks you have only 1 shot to kill them. When you miss, or not kill some shooting related modules you are done. They will kill you in T-72s, T-64s,T-10Ms, KPZs. Maybe the IS-4 can stand it.
The whole rank 5-6 is WORLD of SPAAs

Is 4 and T10 both killed on stock apds belt on Falcon yesterday :D So nope they cant stand it, least from side

Gepards or anything with the Oerklion KDA 35mms (excluding the marksman bcuz its too slow), the Falcon with its 30mms, the ZSU-57-2s, the low tier 20/30/40mm cannons, e.g L62 Anti II… 2S38 is supposed to be an SPAA irl, but I don’t ever see them using the HE-VT

The only thing I find absurd about SPAAs is that they can easily take out your barrel with a short volley of 20-35 millimeter bullets, yet you shoot a barrel with a 75-76mm Cannon and “Hit” or Yellow/Red/Black according to RnG.

Nah, they are faster than MBT’s, arguably have more firepower (as far as NATO 35mm Oerlikons go, Tunguska could technically get 3UBR11 with HE between rounds, but it’s not confirmed to use it) and if they excel in that role in the early game shredding light vehicles and MBT’s from the side, and people choose to play it that way, that’s fine.

All of those bar the ZSU-57-2 is better at anti-air than anti-tank.
ZSU-57-2 is equally good at both.
And 2S38 isn’t a SPAA, it’s specifically a multi-role vehicle that can take out transport helicopters as well, and has been poorly advertised as having anti-air duties probably to get more sales cause a 57mm autocannon tank isn’t seen as useful by almost all militaries.
HSTVL was canned for its expense, and 2S38 almost became the same because it is expensive, and it doesn’t do any job exceptionally well, and it doesn’t do SPAA job well at all IRL or in-game.

HUH?

Doesn’t change the fact it was designed as an SPAA, and its stupidly good at taking out tanks in game.

ZSU-57-2 has 2 57mm mixed-use guns. It’s difficult to learn the leading sure, but once it’s learned it’s significantly better at its job than 40mm bofors.
It’s purely a learning curve issue.

2S38 is also balanced based on its anti-tank duties, and it’s “artificially nerfed” with the light tank role.

Maybe if they buffed rewards against planes, people would be more likely to play it properly

Why bother learning how to earn money by downing air targets when you can go and annihalate anything on the ground?

Of which it does stupidly well for what is supposed to be an AA
