Ignore the CAS fans and how GJ hates SPAA.
Here is how to play SPAA, with my own experience (it may be right and may be wrong)
First I use SPAA Soviet/Russian
First: You should leave the spawn point as much as possible, of course you have to pay attention to the map, not all maps allow that. Hide behind trees or houses, it will make you harder to detect even if CAS has TVD, if you are lucky you can make it difficult to lock TV.
Secondly, sometimes you should not lock the radar, it will jam your missile when the enemy drops countermeasures, guide it like an ATGM, this is applied a lot to helicopters because they are close to the ground and the radar will make your missile go underground.
The next two are my experience and shared experiences from the Air Defense - Air Force, Vietnam People’s Army (my country, of course).
- Wait and wait… don’t reveal your position, only shoot when you feel good, for anti-aircraft artillery is only effective at a distance of 1-3km (depending on the caliber), missiles are effective at about 2km-9km, oh and pay attention to your prey, UAVs you can shoot it from a greater distance (more than 10km) because they lack maneuverability or there are Jets with skill issue that will fly straight.
- CAS is weakest when they dive and after diving, in high-level battles, when CAS dives (facing your position) its countermeasures are relatively harmless, it is less likely to interfere with your missiles.
P/s: And finally you need luck.

It would be nice if SPAAs had access to stealth belts, I suspect the lack of tracers to help lead would be more then off set by not attracting every plane in the sky.
The issue is by the time a plane is close enough to actually hit, the turret traverse on most pre-radar SPAAs is too slow to actually track it.
What is this guy on about
If you want to know, you can actually ask me directly.
He is just angry that he is being asked to actually show what he is talking about and refuses to do so

at that point go play world of tanks, i get not liking planes because they are effective but 3 people with 100 spawn points each can destroy every cas up in under a minute. Mostly at top tier, at lower tiers, you need to learn how to not shoot for no reason and expose yourself. I enjoy cas because I like getting use out of my planes, but I also understand the frusturation, especially revenge bombing. But, if you are having such a hard time with cas, its usually because the other team out numbers your spaa, which might I remind you, is much easier to spawn in and use your 20 seconds of invulnerability to fire as much as you can then move to cover

Can you not thread-jack threads with your propositions and suggestions… It’s not something that actually furthers the discussion.
(Nope)
Always leave your SPAA teammate who fire over 3km away, that’s the silliest teammate you have, it’s like telling the CAS to notice them, just let CAS approach 1km and fire, very useful

CAS is really only a major problem before radar spaa and helis before long range sam.
Like you have the tools to easily counter CAS otherwise.
Problem before radar SPAA is the skill needed to lead without assistance is too much to ask of the average player(not trying to be sarcastic here) and SPAA suffers at that tier because of it.
I see people all the time obviously just putting their crosshair on a plane without leading. I see ppl shooting at planes 5km away. People not waiting for them to dive before shooting (even radar spaa players fail to do this).
The other problem is some lower tier SPAA are much better SPAA than later tier upgunned ones are, as they have much less rof and vof.
The tier where helis have 4km range missles and can kill with impunity as they cant be engaged by gun spaa or face no or nerfed missles (stingers) that cant lock them inside their kill zone needed to be fixed years ago.

Well, look at it from their point of view. The only ground vehicle that comes close to being able to hurt them is an SPAA, so of course they’re gonna attack you first.

Well, look at it from a business point of view. SPAA being strong is not good for business. They sell CAS pre, a lot of CAS pre, would you buy CAS pre, when you know you can be taken down by SPAA relatively easily?
In addition, the number of CAS players is larger than the number of players SPAA, so it’s natural to cater to a larger and higher spending audience.
Don’t talk about balance, there are a lot of complaints about SPAA (probably very few in reality) but what is GJ’s response? Keep nerfing SPAA one way or another. (watch out for CAS fans who will always slander those suggestions)
Trust me GJ will nerf SPAA many more times (public nerfs and shadow nerfs)
Once again. That does not mean it is right to put them both together in a mode if people are going to be salty and revenge bomb every time. Now I understand not everyone does that. And from my experience has been fun with aircraft. And I’m not even going to mention top tier CAS.
Why would he have to show proof for something that’s clearly obvious and 2 feet in front of your face.
If it is then there shouldn’t be a problem to show it right?
What are you talking about?
He shouldn’t have to show something that’s OBVIOUSE. Maybe use your braincells.
If something is obvious and can be seen so clearly then it should be easy to provide something to back it up
