Excuses, excuses… I move around the map all the time in my M247 and Imp Chaparral, and the Chaparral can’t even fire at ground targets. The whole point of Self Propelled Anti-Aircraft is to move WITH your friendly vehicles. Stay just behind the battle line of your allies and move forward with them, then you can reduce firing range for you and attack from unexpected areas which usually help levels of success.
Good example of a game right here: @Pheonix_RX01 Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On
Protected the team from all of the enemy aircraft alone pretty easily. Positioning is important for SPAA too.
Half the maps you can’t even leave the spawn without being destroyed, this only works on certain maps and when your team is already winning and pushing the enemy.

I have heard that they add deliberate errors into those lead indicators and they are never quite accurate. Was in specific context to the Markman, but wouldnt be surprised if it was for all.
They aren’t 100% accurate, but zooming in on a target will make them more accurate than firing from 3rd person zoom. I have found that firing at the base of the circle that connects to the guide line from the target is the best place to aim. Then it allows you to see where your shots are landing and you can adjust. Works really well with the Gepard, M247, and ZSU-37-2.
Thank you for bringing up another neat thing about SPAA use, it doesn’t have to be the last vehicle you spawn after you’ve died twice and have 70 SP left after your team has crumbled. Be more active in the role and provide counterplay for the aircraft. If you actively try to counter the planes they won’t be as effective. Sitting in your spawn and shooting a plane that is targeting you is not the way to do it. You’d also be surprised how well you can do if you die after shooting down a plane or two and then spawn a good tank because the enemies will probably have went through their good starter tanks.
Yeah, spawn it earlier and hope something spawns or you’ve wasted 10 minutes of your time with nothing to show for it, and even if something does show up you still don’t get anything as SPAA rewards are a joke.
Being proactive is better than being reactive. Maybe if players didn’t focus on personal performance and worked for the team dynamic, then maybe more people would play SPAA and aircraft wouldn’t be a problem. Like I’ve said before, this is a player issue not an aircraft issue. Nothing like an entire team of people refusing to counter the thing that is killing them and then complaining that it’s the games fault.
Yes but i was just adding to the discussion.
People have 200 million RP to grind in a system designed for a fraction of that, people need to do daily tasks, special tasks, battlepass challenges etc, nobody wants to sit around in an SPAA all game just to counter a plane that would prevent them from playing, when the SPAA is the same limitation but self imposed.
Then people should quit complaining about something because they are UNWILLING to do anything about it, not UNABLE to do anything about it.
Yeah, people should want to do dumb shit in games.
Play a different game without “dumb shit”. Aircraft is a part of Warthunder’s gameplay, if you don’t like that then maybe Warthunder isn’t for you.
Also spaa dont get much when killing planes so less of an incentive to play them for new players
It’s not about aircraft being there, it’s about the horrible implementation of it, and no one has to put up with that to compensate for bad game design.

You have more excuses than anyone I’ve ever seen. Why make aircraft require 5 kills, 1500 game score, or 10 assists to get? It isn’t a feature like a nuke to end a game in a fun way because you did good, it is a core game feature. They aren’t going to ruin a core game feature. Making is harder and harder to get ruins the FUN of combined warfare. This game is about FUN, not making it a competitive slog fest to be able to get anything interesting to play during a game. Perhaps just make the spawnpoint system like Sim and have a limit and you spawn what you can with that limit and you’re done?
It doesn’t have to be 1500 score, it also doesn’t have to require LITERALLY A SINGULAR KILL to spawn a fully loaded death machine.
Because i can spawn my bt5 get a cap and maybe an assist then spawn my su25sm3 and outrange all spaa and get 4 free kills on average, idk even playing cas it feels cheap to me.
You mean like tanks are, right? One kill and you get to spawn another tank in addition to your first two? Except when you spawn an aircraft it takes 2 or more SP worth of ground vehicle costs…
Yeah, if tanks could fly around with mach 1 and uses guided weaponry from 5km away.
