Steel here was changed in composition as Soviet industry could not produce cemented plates in excess of 200mm. Gaijins historically accurate option is to replace this with Face-hardened armour. Face-hardened armour is weaker and is prone to cracking after heavy kinetic impacts. This has nothing to do with quality keep in mind. The cemented armour straight up was not going to be used for plates thicker than 200mm. Therefore Gaijin would still be assuming perfect quality as is consistent, but of a different type of steel already present ingame.
Will gaijin be reflecting this, and if not, will you be admitting that therefore these ships are not truly 21% complete, as they were not completed to 21% utilising the design with which Gaijin plans to introduce Sovetsky Soyuz.
Ikr, plus Hungary could’ve been used as part of a V4 tree. Since both Hungary and Romania seem stuck in Italy, its unfortunately gonna be tricky to get Poland and Czechoslovakia in a more prominent role.
I don’t mean that kind of rewarding. I mean the satisfaction of blasting your way out of a group of 5-6 enemy gunboats, sinking them all with autocannons, torpedoes, and depth charges in one frenetic hurricane!
Can’t wait to take a pre-ww1 dreadnaught up against these bloody things. And yeah, that map design is the most lazy, worthless thing ever. It’s only saving grace is it helps with the other lazy thing in that all the ships don’t spawn on top of each other and cause a pile-up in spawn.
Unless the enemy boat in question is the one with detailed model like Flower-class or French sub-chaser, which in this case you got screwed. Idk why these ridiculously OP ships sat at such a low rank and BR to begin with.
I like it, but Stalin’s dream ships were dreams for a reason, technologically the ships were doable, just not for Russia, but to get such insane features, the ship also sacrificed structural integrity. One aspect of this was that it was speculated that they may have cracked in half upon launch. Armour would aid this, however using Face-hardened instead of cemented would further exacerbate the issue. Idk I like it, but I don’t think this one quite makes it all the way into reality for me.
It’s more like if you planned to convert a container ship into an arsenal ship and then never added any of the VLS or radars etc… sovetsky had no real combat-components of the ships installed.
Idk it just pains me that Russia will have this phenomenal ship, because people were too afraid to tell stalin it wouldn’t work. Like had the ship have been completed, then launched and cracked in half upon launch… would it even have been introduced?
I think if all nations were getting something comparable (that we know of) and for example the US got Montana, the UK G3 16.5", Italy littorio UP.41, and France alsace, i’d be a bit happier.
