Sovetsky Soyuz is blatantly Overpowered

Or maybe they could add a mechanic to the game where vehicles are assigned a number or maybe a rating, which dictates its performance, the better the performance the higher the rating. Then if perhaps the MM was limited in the range of vehicles that could see each other then a significantly stronger vehicle wouldnt be able to see vehicles that simply couldnt fight it.

Might be a bit of a radical concept, but this mechanic would do wonders for top tier naval and actually balance it quite a bit…

Wait hang on a second…

A words of “mythical decompression” believer which will solve all the problems. Except it will not, it will just shift meta as an any “nerf”.

Not even asking for a decompression, just an increase in the max BR of naval by 0.3-0.7 and then actually using it.

Soyuz and Iowa were added too early and at a too low of a BR

I’d rather fight an Iowa than a Soyuz.

And if the meta shifts as a result of Soyuz nerfs, that’s fine since as it currently is; Soyuz is just as toxic as prenerf Scharnhorst.

Yeah, Iowas are strong, but not “can tank 2-3 people laying into it” strong.

Which will just lead to Vanguard become new “Soyz” on its BR. With current game mechanics state. You ain’t solving the problem, just shifting the meta.

No it won’t lol. Vanguard will get ramfisted by most ships of the same tier.

Yes it will.

Except Vanguard isnt that strong.

It doesnt have nuclear shells, its explosive filler is average at 20.3kg. (Soyuz is double that)

It doesnt have high pen, its actually got the second lowest pen at 7500m at 578mm (Soyuz is 708mm)

Its fire rate is lower 30 seconds vs Soyuzs 28.6

And then its overall survivability isnt as good either.

I dont know why you think Vanguard would suddenly become OP if they actually balanced Soyuz.

Sure if it was still 8.0, but since going to 8.3 its perfectly fine. Performs on-par with every other 8.3 in the game. Delete Soyuz and Iowa (replacing Iowa with South Dakota) from the Leviathans update would have been pretty balanced overall

As it currently stands, Soyuz has near enough DOUBLE the K/D of most other ships in-game at 11.71, next higest is Iowa at 8.89 and then Vanguard at 6.79., with the next few all within 1 K/D of Vanguard, South dakota is basically the same K/D

I just dont understand how ANYONE thinks the Soyuz is fine

It won’t.

The 8.0 monsters already decimate it. The 8.3+s will fist it harder.

Filler means almost nothing now.

Neglectable difference.

But if you look at not a “botfarming” mode you realize that it’s barely 0.63 difference between him and Iowa.

Because you not thinking globaly about the game state.

and you have just single handedly render literally any other comment entirely mute.

Of course it does. Why the hell do you think that explosive filler means nothing?

Right? So its not got a massive reload advnatage either, its average.

What are you on about?

Hu?

Soyuz has rendered top tier unplayable for every nation.

Period.

Because difference between 88kg of filler and 20.68kg is

77.2 vs 64.4 in blast penetaration (which is not enough to blast main decks, but more that enough to blast lower decks in both cases)

and 13mm vs 12mm in fragments penetration(which is not enough to pen even a crewbox, unarmored deck or bulkhead, and hilarious because even AA rocket have 30mm+).

RTFM mate and the tread about that Поведение снарядов в морских боях - Обсуждение игры - War Thunder — официальный форум

Look at AB stats mate.

btw. You even became famous with you “war” against Soyz https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/1wtug4e/picking_a_fight_with_a_fake_ship_then_started/

except higher explosive filler also has a higher chance of causing ammo detonations and does a LOT more crew damage.

its why low explosive filler shells do bugger all crew damage and very inconsistantly deal damage to internal modules.

Let alone higher yield shells have a much larger affect radius.

So even if both can deal damage inside the ship. The shell with DOUBLE the explosives will deal beleive it or not, a lot more damage.

Okay.

Soyuz is the best performing by a wide margin, alongside Iowa, performing TWICE as well as Yamato at 8.7 (no data yet for Lion) and about TWO to THREE times as good as any other 8.3

Looking at AB stats is not helping your case in the slightest, because its clear Iowa and Soyuz are performing considerably better than ANY OTHER ship in the game BY A SIGNIFICANT margin

I dont care. Soyuz is stupidly OP and a Vanguard, a lion AND bots all laying into one ship, and it not taking any meaningful damage is just stupid. That is a fact. The fact he rage quit after being killed and then ran to reddit though is really funny. But thats a typical soviet main for you

Scharnhorst was toxic back when it was OP and now its Soyuz.

Im just going to go back to playing sub 7.7. At least there ships are semi balanced

Its a shame, because Lion and Prince of Wales look like interesting ships, but I just dont see the point of playing either when matches are dictated by a single ship, nor can I be bothered with the stock grind of either on top of that.

things that make Soyuz overperform aren’t mechanics but inherent to the vehicle itself

  • debatable armor thickness
  • guns accuracy

Those 2 are the main issues, nothing to do with mechanics

Shame we can’t read what the initial post was.

What in “underwater hits” do you not understand. The game doesn’t have them as a feature and you know why?

Because irl 99% of those under water hits were because of malfunctioning shell fuses.

Only a single shell had reportedly diving under water in its design and that one was japanese which sacrificed overall penetration capabilities for that feature (with only two hits recoded, one on the cruiser USS Boise and one on USS White planes)

So do you want to just buff japanese ships one sidedly?

And additionally:
Battleships from the inter war period onwards were designed with that potential in mind which is why the Iowas per example have a very deep belt. (Remember that a shell under water will lose most of its kinetic energy)

I would personally add giving Soyuz an actual magazine. I know that the damage model is larger than whats shown in the x ray but id like to know what im actually aiming for instead of a fricking place holder.
