Sovetsky Soyuz is blatantly Overpowered

pure paper I don’t like, it’s impossible to know the ships true handling characteristics, unfinished ships are a necessary evil if you want variety though.

Well, that isn’t entirely true.

You can surmise a ship’s turning capabilities - even on paper - based on hull shape and rudder placement in the blueprints. Speed similarly can be calculated with hull shape, weight, etc.

The main guns are tricky - if they weren’t built.

Not only brits think Soyuz is the problem

For everyone with 380mm it’s basically a no go unless you are at point blank range (unless you are a Roma, but you got abysmal reload instead)

For Yamato and Iowa it can maybe be fought better, but still overshadows both these iconic ships

A bunch of metal plates that never formed a complete hull, never had complete armor, never hosted an engine nor turret and guns has no business being any good, let alone better than real and actual good designs

and that just assumes the Soyuz isnt a competent player. I was loosing around 10% of my crew per salvo the Soyuz hit me and was only firing at me with forward batteries initially, so only 66% of its firepower.

Ive been one shotted before by a Soyuz in the Vanguard

My point is, instead of demanding “Soyz” nerf, you should, as community, demand to fix the “bugs” and “broken” mechanics which cause it to overperform.

Nah, just nuke its turning circle to 940ish meters like it would have had in real life and drop its overall main armor belt thickness by 15%.

It keeps the disgusting cannons but now actually has weaknesses.

Okay live with it as it is further.

I think its armour is overperforming way more than 15%

15% is a reasonable starting point.

It definitely shouldn’t be Kronshtadt or Stalingrad level of armor and still be able to shrug off poorly aimed shots.

940m turning circle would also obliterate its close range capability for brawling, making it capable of being pushed should the need arise.

Man this thread should be renamed into “Naval community is blatantly underpowered”

Given how you haven’t proposed a damn thing other than ‘fix bugs’ that wouldn’t change its power level at all, maybe keep the snide comments to yourself.

Every nerf I have proposed has been reasonable without hitting it too much.

What in the fixing “underwater hits” which will lead to ability to reach his ammo you don’t understand.

What in the fixing big shells fragments penetration which will lead to ability to cause damage to modules on the lower decks below waterline you don’t understand.

Any of this will change performance of all ships in game and make game way balanced than it is now. That is reasanoble.

But all those also buff Soyuz by just as much if not more than everyone else because it also has the highest pen and highest explosive filler of any shell.

So great, you’ve made other ships more effective, but you’ve also made Soyuz more effective and now we are back at square one.

So unless you are proposing these changes come to all ships EXCEPT Soyuz, Soyuz itself still needs nerfs.

Both those that Perry suggested + BR increase would do nicely I think.

You clearly don’t understand how raising overall shell performance will work.

You could look at what happened to destroyers/frigats/corvets when HE shells were fixed more than year ago, now those ships that have only HE is way more viable. Same thing here.

If shells will perform as they should, people will focus on bigger treats, instead of weak one as it’s now, just cause everyone is not safe anymore. People will be forced to maneuver and positioned right which will lead to more active gameplay therefore more fun.

Except it will increase overall performance for EVERY shell though right?

That includes soyuz. A gun/shell combo that can already deal MASSIVE damage to everything without any issue.

It can easily one shot basically everything, and these changes you propose would BUFF Soyuz, not nerf it. Sure maybe it would allow for more consistant damage to be dealt too Soyuz, but it would also increase the speed at which Soyuz can just sink anything firing at it.

Which again, takes us back to square one, with Soyuz being under BRed and overperforming considerably given is a paper design the soviets couldnt have actually built

So you don’t want more balanced gameplay, you just want to nerf “Soyz” just cause it hurt you.

I want an overperforming vehicle that renders 7.7+ basically unplayable for anything other than Iowa to actually be balanced.

What you want to do is buff the strongest ship in the game whilst pretending it would “balance it”

I bet it will not gonna be “strongest” if those fixes arrive. Strong yes, as any other good ships. Performance of the ships will be averaged which will lead to better balance. Just nerfing “Soyz” will not, it will just shift meta to the Iowa.

You are proposing changes that INCREASE the damage that shells can do by allowing them to achieve underwater hits

Shells with higher pen will naturally be better at that than shells with lower pen. Soyuz has one of the highest penning shells in the game

Which will be proportional to the size of the filler in the shell. The more filler. the more damage that a shell could do when in penetrates. Soyuz has DOUBLE the filler of most other top tier shells, and around 80% more than the next highest which is Yamatos 18" shells. This change would increase Soyuzs damage more than any other.

Your proposed changes will increase the performance of shells for EVERYONE, with the Soyuz likely getting a greater buff than the others as a result of having significantly higher explosive filler to everyone else.

  • Nerf Soyuzs Armour to realistic levels (what the soviets could have actually have built not what they were telling Stalin they could build)
  • Nerf Soyuz accuracy to realistic levels (currently its set based upon land tests iirc, which denied for everyone else, so increase shell spread by around 3-4x)
  • Nerf the turning radius to realistic levels
  • Increase its BR to 9.3/9.7

Iowa can then also go up to 9.0/9.3, and now it possible to actually enjoy playing the myriad of 7.7/8.0s which are DOA in an uptier currently

Yeah yeah and suddenly Heavy Cruisers will outperform and kill early BB, cause of faster reload and manuverability. Destroyers will blast Light cruisers if ignored. Corvettes and frigates will not be immoral against small boats anymore.

Sure sure “Soyz” is the problem, nerf it, then nerf Iowa, then nerf Lion, then nerf Yamato nerf everything to the level where no one will kill no one that’s will be the game everyone will want to play(Not).
