3 Soyuz’s vs two 8.0s and a 7.7 is certainly an experience.
Can’t do much about the two that were squadded up but really wish the matchmaker did any sort of balancing and put the solo Soyuz on our team

This was always my number 1 issue when Scharnhorst was OP and it seems they havent learnt a thing.
Was one thing when a match was 2v2 Scharnhorsts its another when its 0 vs 4.
Soyuz is the same. an 8.7 match basically is dictated by who has the most Soyuz, which is just dumb

Normally I am not a Russian bias believer but this is 100% accurate. It the only ship I can do pretty much nothing against, and no exaggeration 50% of my deaths are to this abomination. I played around in protection analysis and I have to get within 7ish kilometers to even have a chance at penning anything but a 90 degree side on turret shot. ( Using the gneisenau)

Hearing this makes me hesitant to even bother crewing the Bismark when i do unlock her. 7.7 getting sucked up 90% of the time is bad enough…

Waste of SL, youre essentially always in 8.7. Soyuz is the 4th most played ship in 7.7-8.7 so youre guaranteed to meet one and its just not fun. And thats with Bismarcks great armor and guns, i dont even want to imagine the suffering of Japan, France or Italy players go through

yea turtle back gives it like 1000mm of armor at certain angles basically they left the armor the same and trippled the crew loss and fire damga from elevator fires
Less nerfed, more added new mechanics that impacted Scharn quite hard.
They added fire propergation down the ammo lifts. Before Scharn could only really be killed by sheer volume of fire or getting a lucky hit on a pixel sized target in one of a few ships and hitting the ammo rack. (prior to some changes to how shrapnel and stuff was modeled, the list of ships that could even do that was even smaller)
After they added that fire mechanic, Scharn gained a major weakness. It has a very short lift, meaning it is unlikely to extinigush the fire before it caused an ammo det and that remains true even now. So aim just below the A/B turrets, and you’ll usually one shot a Scharn
Also, most scharnhorst equivalent ships, like Rodney, were added 2 years later

Yamato is a glass canon, might be able to pick apart a Soyuz if unchallenged, but is very easy to be killed by most ships, let alone something as powerful as a Soyuz.
The issue is Yamato cannot angle her bow, and always fights broadside, leaving her ammo racks incredibly vulnerable and most ships can pen that armour fairly easily

but ya knnow yyou can set a iowa or soyuz on fire and blow there ammo and they just live
I think that is because both forward racks det in the Scharn, where as only one does in the Iowa and Soyuz. Though also, any Iowa with half a brain will only run 50% ammo

So I am familiar with regulating ammunition in tanks, but in naval I normally just take full ammo. is there an amount i should be taking as a rule of thumb or is it dependent on what racks fill up first?
Uh… In most ships. I dont think it matters too much. Not really something ive really paid all that much attention too.
But in Iowa, it loads bottom up and so if you take 50% or less ammo, the vulnerable racks dont have anything in them, making the Iowa a lot more survivable. Most ships I dont think it changes much as they usually load top down.
I think also running less HE can help too?
