Sovetsky Soyuz is blatantly Overpowered

Most battleships lose between 1 and 3 sections even to bad torpedoes. Air dropped ones are usually the exception in that they sometimes are a minor inconvenience or just straight up erase the ship.

The issue is consistency.

Is the Yamato and Bismark underperforming because the players are not good with them or its a modeling problem/Balancing issue? I don’t know if it will be worth my time to grind to naval top tier or just play ground/air.

Yamato instantly dies when anything looks at its bow.

Similarly, Bismarck is oppressive in a down tier

I have the prinz eugen so I guess I will grind german naval when I have time.

As parry already said, Yamato is an Rp pinata if you know where to aim. And Bismarck is just in the classic one BR under top purgatory, Iowas and Soyuzs are just better in every regard and youre playing mostly 8.7. If you get downtiered tho its a complete slaughter, naval compression is truly something

Eugen is a solid cruiser overall. Probably one of the best for its overall ability

Rear magazines are a little exposed though.

To be fair, even same tier can be a slaughter depending on the ship.

Like what can reliably kill HMS Invincible at 5.7 that isn’t glorious or another invincible?

People saying Bismarck is opressive AF in a downtier seemingly dont know that its worse armoured than scharnhorst and gneisenau… (at least in the barbette area where armour actually matters) so uh yeah…

We do know but does it really matter at 7.3? No it doesnt. The additional firepower over both matters more

i mean 350 above Deck and 365 below deck compared to 360 above and 395 below for scharn and gneisenau (above deck is a bit whatever) but the below deck armor is kinda crazy cause thats where the fires matter. And mind you Gneisenaus Firepower “only” is 1 turret less compared to bismarck and gets a reduce in br by 0.6

It’s the high RoF, high damage guns. They can shred things that might struggle nailing the weakspot, especially if the bismark does anything other than broadside. though most 7.7s at least should probably be fine

one turret is a 33% increase in damage thats quite a bit

Scharnhorst has 28.3s with a 17.2 second reload

Gneisenau has 6 38s on an overall worse platform. Not that it matters since Gneisenau is just as oppressive in a same tier/down tier as Bismarck.

The slightly worse armor means little when Bismarck’s turtleback is notably thicker

The issue is compression…

At 7.3 you have, for example, Alaska… so you can have Alaska facing Bismarck lmao

Although then you have Gneisenau SOMEHOW sitting at 7.7, which is just hilarious xD

According to Gaijin, Alaska and Gneisenau are 0.3 BRs apart in capabilities.

Naval balance is a mess.

Alaska can actually kill Bismarck despite being an oversized cruiser.

In real life, maybe…

Ingame, try even turning anything yellow before the Bismarck sneezes in your general direction and erases your existence xD

The 30.5cms hit hard enough, problem is Alaska shares the Kronshtadt problem: made of glass.

If ure saying the Bismarck should be doing something other than broadsides then what even are u doing. the last thing u want to do with these german ships is go full front or backside ud need to angle it a bit and then still hope that the enemy doesnt aim for the front

Turtleback is honestly quite useless at that Br lol

Depends on the range since there’s quite a few posts of people whining they can’t ‘kill a Scharnhorst’ with a Soyuz.

If they’re struggling against a Scharnhorst, Bismarck at the same ranges is gonna have a field day.

Thats just an insane skill issue on those peoples parts ngl the Soyuz is so insanely broken lmao.

Also as i said before Bismarck is technically easier to kill than Gneisenau and Scharnhorst because of funny Barbette armour differences
