Goofy ahh post.
The event on arrival day doesn’t have much of a program. Arrival times are not set, and the Mustang arrived about 45 minutes before planned. I was expecting the P-39 at the time so it was a surprise (pleasant one certainly) to see it.
It also, absolutely has relevance. First off, War Thunder acts like you are outside of your tank, unless you are in gunsight mode. Even in Sim. And yeah, we are in open terrain- like half the maps in game. Being able to tell what engine is behind a building isn’t a ridiculous concept. You can complain; if you think its such a big problem, just change engine settings for yourself. But don’t fault me for learning the ins and outs of the game.
I am jealous lol
my guess would be a lack of knowledge. It isn’t like everyone has access to a local airshow/tankshow- so I can understand how the concept may not make sense to people.
damn i have to be strategic and can’t just waltz up on people. crazy
Shadow “how to fly” pilot jutsu

Ok so by the logic of not being able to hear anything from inside the tank. If I hit the tank with HE but fail to penetrate, does that mean the crew is now deaf for the rest of the battle? It’s almost as if War Thunder is realistic, but also incorporates arcade elements for gameplay reasons.
Anyone that knows aircraft, tanks, cars or motorbikes and goes to shows with them unless they are deaf can tell certain engines apart on their own or amongst many others.
anyone that can tell who is talking based off of their voice understands the concept that different things can sound different.
I think its just OP refusing to realise they are being skill filtered from those with awareness and knowledge and those that dont. That itself isnt bad, but demanding the game changes to accommodate the filtered in a way thats destructive to the game is.
War thunder should be made more realistic by cranking up the volume of your headphones/speakers when your tank is hit/you fire your main gun. Now everyone can have super realistic tinnitus!
Dude said something about Mustang eventually arriving, it arrived, WOW, HE MUST HAVE HEARD IT.
bulletproof logic.
Guess what, it’ll arrive to the same show next year. I’m already hearing it flying from where I’m sitting.
Meanwhile IRL tanks need scouts and radios, because you can’t hear anything from inside the tank, and if you open hatches during combat, you won’t be able to hear anything once you fire your gun anyway. GL HF.
And that’s completely ignoring the fact that IRL sound will get reflected and in a city you won’t be able to tell the direction or distance, and it will only work reliably in the open terrain, which is pretty much out of scope of the problem we’re discussing right now.
My logic is, sounds should be completely redesigned, so you get a very, very imprecise idea of “something is coming” rather than "M41 bulldog is moving slowly 3 streets away at azimuth of 41 degrees 12 minutes. Learn to read.
Ive driven around in tanks (technically not a tank, it was a sexton SPH) but i could still tell that there was a M10 driving around near me despite not seeing it.
Also guns sound different, very notably so in WT. you can guess based on that
Well, GL in life with such levels of reading comprehension!
You are asking for a level of realism that the game’s engine cannot support. You are also asking for something the majority of the playerbase does not want. You also completely glossed over my statement on realistic and arcade elements. You also completely missed my sarcasm due to the way you framed your argument, learn to read.
What about shoot his barrel?? You would have more than enough time while he finish reloading. Anyway, if you 2 faced him frontally, then you did an awful job at flanking, one should be at his front, the other at his 90 degree side or at his back.
OMG!! Just like in real life and in other type of game!!
Or maybe check your corners?? you literally ahve 3rd person view to see around corners without peeking
Because tanks cant crouch/walk? duh. Its a tank game you know?
For me it does
If I get shot with mg, yeah it does, especially with biggers calibers as 12.7mm or 20mm
yes it does
Or just go to another path.
Not that loud from inside
You only get deaf if you are next to the cannon end (it means outside and in front of the cannon)
Ofc it does, thats how infantry spots armored vehicles, thats how hamas does ambushes in Gaza. I invite you to play Squad, Arma or Project Reality. Even Enlisted.
The game simulates that when you are in third person, your commander its outside so you can hear everything. When you use the gunner sight (inside) the noises will completely change, as you say.
I dont think they get that WT is a simcade and not a full blown simulator either
Majority of playerbase is absolutely clueless and when they shoot a tank in the side with high power AP and it miraculously fails to pen (Soviet 100mm vs Panther side, LOL), they think it’s “volumetric” or they got “gaijined”,same with 500kg bomb doing nothing on direct hits, or plywood bug causing HE to not work on multpile Soviet props + mosquito. Tthey don’t understand core game mechanics and thus they don’t even know it can be fixed and what to ask gaijin for.
People just “accept the game” as it is.
And the game is getting progressively worse and less fun.
It could be a lot better, more dynamic and interesting, but it has design flaws that basically promote toxic gameplay.
I’m fine with it. I’ll just keep using OP vehicles and if someone flanks, he gets shot in the face. I use sound scouting to know where and when and what enemy will appear. I don’t rush, I use 3rd person periscope to look around corners. I use bushes and soon will buy more by gaijoobans I did not have to pay for.
I’m benefitting from the bad game design,
Poor players who do their best to shoot me in the back are not.
Yeah cause he heard it, and then very shortly after saw it. It wasn’t a “oh 45 min later it showed up” thing.
No need to be snide.
Right, because my 125mm main gun is actually an auto cannon and goes off every second, and also I definitely just shot it and wasn’t driving around trying to find someone first.
The guns in game generate smoke and noise. What more do you want? Tinnitus?
Without people or cars, it’s your engine reflecting versus their engine reflecting. Odds are, especially when close, you’ll hear them.
Also, in the end, it’s a game. Not real life. Unless you are playing with the largest subwoofers known to man, nothing is going to sound right. Plus, it’s a game. So you aren’t sitting in your tank. You have the option I turn down your own (and others) engine volumes.
